Dont know how easy or hard they are to keep. A beutiful fish tho. Kept them for a long time its got easier over the years but the old saying about keeping a tank of water with fish in rather than keeping fish in a tank of water is absolutely true ! As for Neons/Cardinals....cycling a tank is just about all they are good for these days......some fish over the years have just gone so low in quality,few are worse than todays Neons though. might sound daft lol, but are gold fish more of a hardier fish, seen few nice size gold fish over the years at mates houses that lived longer and good size, plus was told a lot cheaper to buy+keep . I know tropical are different fish to keep+buy, just thought the old gold fish make good fish to keep if you wanted I eaiser and cheap to keep fish Quote Link to post Share on other sites

The tigers are definitely fin nippers and have grown like wildfire. They're about the size of a 50p piece now hence needing a bigger tank. I want about 250 litres + but they don't seem to be cheap! I would definitely recommend a small shoal of corydora. They must be the same type though and not mixed. E.g peppered mixed in with panda and albinos. They only seem to shoal with their own specific colour. Are you going down the live planted route? Ball ache lol. fb have tropical fish tank pages look them up there was a madenhead corner 900 litre tank not far from me going for £150 the other day Quote Link to post Share on other sites

As that is what he has in, they seem fine.does he's tank have a light system in if it does I would go for live plants a tank does not really need them but for a visual aspect we'll worth it and plants need very little looking after bar a light system but the thing with real plants is they offer a lot of hiding places for fish and also help with nitrate problems though would suggest not buying moss balls they can be a pain in the ass but colourful rooted plants are great here's a couple pics of mine Quote Link to post Share on other sites
