My son got eventually set up, pic of his aquarium below, guppies, molly's, 2 dwarf gramies and a sword tail, bit hard to see them, but their all their some where. lol

The reason behind the advise of putting neon tetras in is it starts your cycle in the tank . They where cheap to replace if they died and your tank filter started to mature a lot faster than a fish l

Thanks. He set it all up by himself, got all his info off the net and seems to have built up a peaceful fish community.

Thats how we all start, wee community tank, then you end up on the African cichlids and before you know it you are overrun with tanks and fish! I got to the stage there was no money changing hands with the local shops, I was trading young fish for gear and other fish......its a good hobby.....very interesting, but you can get sucked in, like anything else I guess!!

got a marine setup now very expensive to setup but worth it I think.

i was invited to a guys workshop the other day,he grows marine corals, has some rare ones apparently, very shallow tanks some of them,he uses HPS lamps and ballasts with 400w bulbs,he was also experimenting with L.E.D units with different spectrums for some of his tanks, strange hobby and it didn't look as visually pleasing as fish but he was certainly enthusiastic.
