I'm a bit hesitant to show my set up on here lad! Only because trapping laws here in Ireland are less strict than in the UK, and so I don't want to mislead anyone on here!

I do mostly use tunnels for most my sets, but not all, and I also use American/Canadian made kill traps, as well as Fenn and Magnums, so I have more choice, in both sets and trap choice!

There's lots of lads on here that trap mink, and maybe one of them can show you how to go about trapping mink effectively, and stay within the law!

Yea its a pity alright! Used to be loads a good topics on here, getting a bit boaring of late!

Funny you should say that  I can't remember the last time anyone mentioned Wild Boar and their control in this section

Anyway, as much as I love the trapping and snaring posts (the interesting ones anyway) always bear in mind the title of this section; it's 'Snaring, Trapping and Pest Control'. Whilst I'm not actively involved in the conventional pest control world at present, I see no reason why those who are should feel somehow 'second class' to those who trap and snare exclusively, either for a hobby, or to earn a crust

In fact, looking around, I see no more or less 'poison' based topics than there has ever been

Whilst the trapping legislation and guidelines vary from one country to another, it's still an interesting subject to read, and I'm sure most 'non UK' trappers would make it clear that the situation where they are is different to the UK.

There's no shortage of space to post topics, so whatever floats your boat, providing it's safe and legal post it.

Personally, my traps are currently gathering dust, but as soon as their in action again I'll pop a video or two up myself

I actually agree with you Eddie - a lot of trappers do not post on here for fear of being shot down in flames by someone or other and prefer to keep things to themselves, even if they are on the right side of the law, wherever they may be from.

There's always someone who disagrees with something and makes painful reading when they do. A lot of misguided and opinionated folk will take great pleasure in shooting you down too.

Just my opinion

I don't think that's any different to any other internet forum OTC.... opinions are like arseholes; everyone has one, but some stink more than others....

I've been on various forums since 2001, and as time has gone on, people have got more and more opinionated and less and less tolerant of others

BUT...... that shouldn't stop anyone from posting  ....... having said that, there are thousands of good folks out there who wouldn't dream of posting their exploits anywhere on the net..... not because of what others may or may not say, but because it's just not their thing....

Yes, you're quite right Matt, but many of the helpful and informative trappers have long gone from here and they have been replaced by nit-pickers who delight in ruining threads, or belittling folk, rather than constructively helping others.

That is not to say that no good can come of it, in time, but that is, I think, a fair reflection of how it is right now IMO
