Deker 3,478
steven35 Personally I believe the electronic high pitch units should be banned, they are simply a con. In my experience the best they do is have a very short term effect then everything comes back, at worst they do nothing. I have attended many a job where householders have bought these and then had to call me to do the job properly. Quote Link to post

Forgot about romax, I just wish we didn't lose the dust, it sorted out some really bad farm jobs on the initial set ups, then backed up with the usuals. Quote Link to post
RemyBolt 420
The farm I shoot at has been finding rats eating a load of bait and not that many dying from it. So I'm upping my ratting to include a little trap work, which should be fun to learn. Quote Link to post
shropshire mole 190
Have tried rat trapping but find the rats really clever, certainly the older ones. They are able to by pass all sorts of my booby traps. Had a rat job in a kitchen, no real idea how they were getting on to the work surface, but always some droppings, eaten fruit etc. Put 6 spring traps out baited with peanut butter up against wall/floor junctions and a camera. The rats were climbing up the back of washing machine via a hole (not seen) and climbing up and on to the kitchen surface with the 1" gap betwwen to top od machine and kitchen top. Rats dodged all traps, took the fruit, crapped, and went away. If any one one can assist with help how to catch rats using spring traps, please do Quote Link to post

StephenWalsh 73
Firstly why would you leave the fruit in there to be taken? Removing the food source would make them pay more attention to the traps! And try some chocolate spread. Quote Link to post
shropshire mole 190
It simply was to see how the critters were getting on to the work surface, hence leaving the fruit in place. My point really was to highlight that the rats by passed each trap, some were baited with chocolate, slightly melted so it sticks to the trap and not easily removed, others with peanut butter Quote Link to post
