Got Myself A Hw 97 Kt

Recommended Posts

Well people I managed to get to the range yesterday and was blowing a gale so Stu who owns the range was kind enough to let me shoot indoors at 25m in the pistol range...

Well what can I say, the HW 97KT is unreal... So easy and comfortable to shoulder, accurate as hell, I absolutely love it !!!

The difference in shooting springer to pcp is day and night...

Proper enjoyed myself shooting both rifles although the 97 is going to take some time to get used to I was happy with my grouping by the end of my session...

Future plans are to get lots and lots of practice in at the range, would like to have 97 tuned/polished internals and probs V-Mach kit fitted and then I reckon I'll be looking at MTC - viper scopes for both rifles (1 could be on Xmas list from the wife)...

Will keep up you all posted and up to date...

Ive had my 97KT black line for about a month and to be honest it did have a nice twang to it when shooting it .Ive now stripped it down polished in the piston and piston chamber spring ends and fine wire wool rifle chamber then greased and silicon greased where needed .wow what a difference it has made to the accuaracy of thiss fine rilfe ,was shooting at 30 mtrs at a 10p sized target and got all 10 shots out of 10 in the top half .

Was very impressed so ive now ordered a service kits to make it even better and smoother to shoot .

So glad i went for the 97kt as its a fantastic rifle and a pleasure to shoot .

What's people's thoughts on V-Mach kit v's clean and polish of internals ???

Right people, I'm after some more advice...

Will a clean, polish and tune of internals be sufficient to make rifle smoother and reduce recoil or do you's recommend having a V-Mach kit fitted ???

Would having kit fitted make noticeable difference from just having clean, polish and tune ???

Any advice would be great...

Yes, maybe and yes. ;)

A clean and polish will remove all the factory gunk (don't forget the trigger housing, which is normally full of snot) and smooth things out nicely.

A V-Mach will make it more consistent in terms of velocity and power, although it may make the recoil more snappy at the same time (short-throw spring and reduced lock time).

I'd recommend cleaning & polishing first. If the rifle shoots sweetly and consistently after that, save your money.

I only installed a V-Mach kit when I found that my spring had shattered into 5 pieces. Prior to that, I'd cleaned out the gunk, the rifle was shooting smoothly and consistently, and it didn't need anything else doing to it for a couple of years, until the spring went tîts up. It's a FAC 97, and the Weihrauch FAC spring doesn't last very long, from what I've read.

Right first off i was at the range to day with little hunter and i was looking for you as i took my son in-laws 97k with me its the one that i had and its fitted with a full v mach kit and welsh willy trigger and v mach safety it is also had every thing polished to a very high standard by marksman off here and its one of the best one,s iv ever shot plus any one that shoots it dose not want to give it back.

There is next to no recoil

But watch as fitting a v mach kit will push the power over 12ftp

Mine went to just under 14ftp

if this happens you will need to strip it again and take some washers out to bring it down

If its still over you will then need to cut the spring

This will defo get you under 12ftp

But before you do any of this once the v mach is fitted put two or three tins of pellets through her to see if she will settle down and the same once you take the washers out and if still over then get the spring cut sounds drastic but she will feel and shoot mint .

Get some one that noes what there doing to cut the spring as its got to be cut a certain way and not willy nilly as this will coarse more damage than none to your rifle.

atvbmac    PS i will catch you soon and you can shoot this one so you can see what its like

Thanks coypu hunter i for got to say try a polish be for fitting the v mach kit as this some times makes them mint to, both the pro sports iv had i had this done and they did not need v mach kits .

And like coypu hunter has said don't for get the trigger atvbmac

Right lads - looks like it's gonna be a polish/clean of all internals etc and see how I get on with it before splashing out for V-Mach kits or anything else...

Mac - I'm gutted I never got to the range yesterday, I'm normally up there on Sundays as i work every Saturday... (Heading up today but it'll be about 4.30 before I get there)

Defo would love to have a few shots with proper tuned 97 and see the difference, it'll also be good to meet you in person for bit crack as think my wife gets bored of me talking rifles/whippets/rabbiting, and I'm only down the road in Blyth...
