Dewclaw69 484
fair bit of cloud and a late moon tonight so i thought i'd whip out for an hour just after 10. 2 half grown easy rabbits for the dog. 1st brought back straight to hand, the second was a squealer and he took a minute to bring it back but again fetched back to hand. Dewclaw69 484
another 2 last night as well. not so many around but he had what he was slipped on. he's getting smart quick too. he's spotting the sitters and not running at em, more running a line to intercept em. Quote Link to post
Leesy 35
Handsome dog pal. I have a 5 month dog very similar looking, doing good with his training and retreiving skins so far, but not showing much interest in a running rabbit yet. Im under no Iillusion that he wont be working until next season but im worried hes not really showing interest yet. How old was yours when he showed first hunting signs? Quote Link to post
Dewclaw69 484
Handsome dog pal. Im under no Iillusion that he wont be working until next season but im worried hes not really showing interest yet. How old was yours when he showed first hunting signs? he never even saw a rabbit till 11 months. i've been shooting through the spring and summer so just exercised and trained. i waited until he started to look as though he'd catch before entering him . 1st run out he had a couple of slips on the lamp but no luck. 2nd and 3rd time out he scored. getting the hang of it real quick. as said in another post, the dog will let you know when he's ready. good luck Quote Link to post
Leesy 35
Thanks for that pal. Im not trying to enter him yet because of his age, the area where I live and ecercise him just happens to have rabbits knocking about. Thanks again, hopefully this time next year I'll be posting images of him with his prizes. Quote Link to post
