Heat Lamp For Kennel

Any recommendations for a heat lamp for kennels please? Any makes better than others? Where is best to get one? And do I need to get to get anything done to electrics to run it? Thought it may be cheaper to get one now then wait until it turns cold.

I find the ceramic bulbs to be the best in a heat lamp, they kick out as much heat but with no light shining in there face

Thanks Paulf, I live in expensive area where all the prices are put up but going home to Devon this weekend so will call into Mole Valley and have a look.

Snappeer I have no idea what you are talking about!! The dogs live in the house but I am setting up a stone outbuilding as a kennel for the day as they get back wet (and cold!) from the yard in the morning and don't want them trashing the house. Have an 10 year old lab with hip dysplasia so don't want him getting chilly!! Soft I know but saves on the metacam!

Tube heater's are the best form of background heat and very cheap to run, you can pick what length or size you require and cheap to buy , direct heat like a heatlamp are expensive to run and can be dangerous and cause overheating if not closely monitored, the light from a red one can disturb sleeping patterns and the main reason most use the ceramic;ie night time sleep, another type of direct heat can be supplied by heat pads under bedding, the type used by reptile keepers, I've personally used all these when breeding/rearing gamebirds, pups ,etc, but I use tube heaters now in my kennels, by far the best and cheaper, atb, WM

Nothing wrong with giving dogs as much comfort as you can it does not turn them into faggots because you give them abit of heat or suddenly start jacking i feel bad now for cleaning them out changing there water everyday turning the heat lamps on in winter infact i might just go outside and kick the shiote outta them just to toughen them up
