jack44 187
Just back in from the vets I had to bring my 15month old pup because while out walking yesterday we met a man with a jack russel that was off the lead mine lad was on one anyway he said he wont bite so I didnt pay much attention with no warning signs he bite his back leg at the time I disnt think there was anything wrong because of no marks but it was slightly swollen this morning. By the time I got home it was 3 times the size vet said its infected now I trust them because of greyhound men use them was told it's going to cost around 140 and he stayed over not a bad price I think any one any experience with infections like this. Also tanks to the vets helper who said he has to lurchers so if ur on here tanks 1 Quote Link to post
Fennster16 29
Good when you get a vet like that, I have a little kit with vet powder, tea tree oil and sticky bandages, tic pullers, cotton buds etc. also have some saline in it, I get it from work but u can buy a sachet for 50p at boots. them little terriers can cause some damage ( I broke up a fight with my dads patterdale cross when he was alive, tooth went through my finger by accident my own fault). Glad he's sorted now your vets defo a keeper Edited August 11, 2014 by Fennster16 Quote Link to post
Little Huntress 40
Sounds like you caught it early which is really good, the worry with a bite is that any bacteria that gets into the injury can cause septicemia (blood poisoning) which can be fatal, especially if left untreated. The antibiotics will kick in fairly quickly, they will be particularly effective if he's never had any before. Will help he is at vets on IV drip too. Whereabouts on the leg is the bite? The other worry will be if there if there has been any damage caused to a tendon or ligaments but that will be a case of waiting to see how he responds unless you want to spend a fortune in scans. Good luck, I hope the pup makes a quick recovery! Quote Link to post
jack44 187
Thanks for the replys the bite was to the bottom of the back leg I did ask about tendon damage said he'd have a better look when the swelling gos down. Ye hes on the drip for the night and it is his first time with the antibiotics so fingers crossed he wont be to bad my little pointer bitch will be lost without him in the yard for the night when the terriers come in for the night ha Quote Link to post
