Beefbeefbeef 10
Firstly, hope I got the right forum section for this query. I have just moved house and there is no sensible way for me to attach my cabinet to a masonry wall. I am therefore thinking of drilling into the floorboards and also a partition wall at the rear of the cabinet. Do you think this is going to be acceptable to the firearms officer? I have moved a few times and the officers seem generally relaxed although I did have one in Birmingham who insisted on a masonry wall fitting (may have been due to the nature of the area!). Cliff Ray 185
I've had the same issue and that should be fine. 1 Quote Link to post
Blackbriar 8,569
Have you got a loft, mate ? Masonry wall and out of sight ! ATB Edited August 11, 2014 by Blackbriar Quote Link to post
Beefbeefbeef 10
The loft is in the middle of the house so there's no masonry walls, just partitions. It would also be a major pain in the ass going up and down the step-ladder. Quote Link to post
ShootistUK 1
I used to keep firearms in Birmingham (albeit 25 years ago) and they were happy to allow me to keep my guns in a cabinet held to a wooden floor by coach bolts into the floor joist through a floor board. The inspecting officer just tried to move the cabinet by yanking it and if it would not budge he was happy. I have also previously lifted a section of floor boards and poured concrete between a section of 2 joists and made my own small section of concreted floor to bolt into. Oddly enough the inspecting officer wanted concrete when my cabinet was mounted on the ground floor but happy for me to mount into wood if kept on the first floor (makes sense really that you wouldnt have concrete floor upstairs in many houses). Obviously this was 25 years ago - but security was tight then also. Quote Link to post
