This will sound horrible but with the aid of modern science numerous genetic changes are being introduced into the gene pool that simply would not have been able to 100 maybe just 50 years ago.

Going from the massive expansion of the genetic possibilities following the introduction of such things like the bicycle we now have the allowances and access for such individuals that some years ago would have been confined to a house or hospital, that now allow them the freedom to lead a life outside of such parameters which is a great thing. They provide a certain level of independence, a value of self-worth and I am all for that but does this all come at a cost long-term ultimately for the human as a species?

As a species we're fine, technology has only influenced us for a minute time scale. If you believe in evolution then you'll believe that 50-100 years is piss in the ocean on an evolutionary timescale. If our environment was changed by the loss of all science and tech we'd be back in a 'natural' (I hate that word) environment and be playing by the old set of selection rules again. People would be being selected by non technologically influenced factors as opposed to technologically influenced ones..... evolution goes on! .........as it is doing now.

In 100k years thing may be very different....... If we continue on this course of technologically adapting our environment to suit our genetics then we will just have to make sure that our scientific and technological advances and abilites progress fast enough to sustain us. Species become extinct because, as a species they havent the ability to adapt in a sustainable way to a change in environment...... on our current course of adapting our environment to suit when will we hit that point? If ever?

One day we'll reach a level of advancement where we have sufficient ability to manage our genetics to define our own evolutionary progress.

Playing "God" you mean?

I believe we already are and it is understandable, it will only become more and more in-depth with the use of stem cells etc more widely spread and the ability to artificially pre-code DNA. As a species we do like to discover stuff that help us understand the big questions but we also love a right good tinker about with our findings :)

When I was a child I prayed to god and asked for a bike, but I knew god didn't work that way so I stole one and asked for forgiveness instead ?.

I will clearly state that my belief is that God does NOT exist. However, you can't prove that something doesn't exist, so if your telling me that I'm wrong, then I'm going to need some proof. Proof th

I've had a google and they reckon it's about 5000 pairs. What I can't understand if God was so powerful, powerful enough that he can make the world, he could do all these amazing things. He summons a

If that's how you want to term it, but then that implies god created us doesn't it? LOL

My view would be it is actively controlling your evolution. Whether that's right or wrong is a different argument.

So you don't believe there is a God then? So how do you explain..... Oh wait, hang on a minute :D :D

I use the terminology as it's familiar to most but I know what you mean. I always get slightly worried though when we get involved in stuff as we have this amazing ability to blast on through for the end solution regardless of the consequence in most cases. As I said, we love a good tinker with stuff no matter what it is.

Here’s something God based I found pretty interesting, might help keep this thread going a bit longer :)

I recently listened to a radio interview with some eminent British historians /archaeologists who studied the bronze-age Middle East.

They explained that the ancient Israelites worshipped many gods, rather than one, and that their monotheism was a relatively recent development – I’m assuming picked up from Zoroastrianism.

The ancient Israelites also believed God, or El, or Yahweh – whatever you want to call him - had a wife, a goddess named Asherah.

I wouldn’t have a problem squaring this with my own, pretty moderate, Christianity, as I’ve never seen the old testament as anything more than one tribe’s fact-based mythology, with less fact and more mythology the further you go back.

But hey; not mentioning that God had a wife… that’s quite an omission!

I would be genuinely interested to hear from someone who believes in a literal interpretation of the bible on the subject.

I hope it’s more engaging than simple outright denial. ;)

no gnash macro has not been witnessed nor any mechanism for it.

we have similar dna cause like keratin its a good building block for life.all animals dna are close to humans its a sign of intelligent designer i think.

now i have excellent historical eye witness hand written scripture that is proven worthy an very accurate by profesional an credible historians.no one can argue the bible brilliant historical timeline

an thats a great bit of solid evidence for creationists.

theres plenty of new bible versions confusing people,an they wouldnt stand beside there orignal hebrew greek an latin scripture.

kj bible is the only translation word for word an can be trusted.

i challenge anyone to show me any mistakes,or contradictions in kj bible;theres thousands of professionals right now going threw it page by page an have done for years trying to find any mistake or lie in there which they cant do.

the new testament fulfils the old an proves very accuratley history prophecy an the truth.

if anyone is interested how the bible came to be theres an excellent documentary called a lamp in the dark.its excellent

il put a link up in a minute

But that's just layer upon layer of denial isn't it, which isn't what i asked for.

And, in my opinion the KG is the most beautiful piece of literature ever written, but you cant say its more accurate than scripture actually written in Israel at the time....that's just silly.
