Tx200 Hc Review

Morning guys,

 

Just thought I'd post a review of my newly repaired TX200 HC.

 

To cut a long story short..I bought it second hand & not long after using it, it developed a problem where each time I cocked the rifle, pressing the anti bear trap switch on the side would un-cock it when returning the under lever to its original position. I think this was perhaps a result of the previous owner having the trigger set to light.

 

This put the rifle out of action for a couple of months before I sent it off to Matt (Mattybugeye) he had already done a great job fitting a v-Mach kit to my 97k so I had the confidence that he could get it going again.

 

I got the gun back on Friday after Matty had fixed the cocking lever, polished & re-lubed the internals & set the trigger to my liking. Saturday morning I set to work putting a scope on & getting it zeroed in the garden. Since owning the rifle I'd never had the chance to put the gun through its full paces before the cocking lever gave up on me, so I was pretty excited to see what it was capable of.

 

I have to say that the TX is now an absolute dream to shoot, it's extremely smooth with very little recoil & no twang, just a soft thud. I zeroed it at 25 yards and was amazed at the accuracy it's capable of, it will outshoot me all day long. I'm also lucky enough to own 3 weihrauch's (plus 1 on order from SFS) but I can honestly say that this is the most accurate of them all & has the nicest firing cycle. I set out various targets from 20 to 40 yards & it didn't miss a beat, this would easily compete with a PCP. It gave me so much confidence knowing that as long as I did my bit, this rifle would hit exactly where I placed the cross hairs.

 

Not only does the TX shoot like a dream, I also think it looks great. The woodwork is lovely with the fish scale detailing & the blueing of the barrel has a really nice shine to it, I'd say that it's definitely more of a looker than the Weihrauch's. The gun feels nicely weighted, well balanced & pretty compact in the HC version.

 

Overall I'm extremely happy with the TX & would highly recommend it to anyone who's thinking about getting one. I'm going to take it for a trip down to my permission next week & hopefully christen it with a few bunnies in the bag.

 

I've included a pic of a 5 shot group that I did at 25 yards from off my shooting bag, this could definitely be tightened up by a more competent shot and on a totally still day, there was quite a strong cross wind yesterday when shooting this.

I know yours has seem a little TLC from a skilled gunsmith (we can call him that, right? ) but I'm looking forward to getting my TX200 HC!

Wouldn't go that far like but do love felling with spring guns tx200 don't need much as impressive out the box but a correct set up and nice polish and lube can improve them a fair bit and helps they so simple guns to work on

I do love my springers, yet to open one up to appreciate how they work or know how to repair one but from rifles like Weihrauch and Air Arms are no doubt made with such precision and quality, I don't think I'll need to

Nothing against my BSA's but I can't wait to move up again.

Once you done one it's not too bad if you need to I can always do it for you charge 30 pounds for full strip and polish de grease and use all my own lubes set power to where you want it and polish the trigger and set that

Or that price includes fitting any v mach ww or any other kit you supply basically covers costs and couple of beers for my effort but does make a nice difference to your rifle

Thanks Darly, I won't lie, I'm really looking forward to owning one and having a nice rifle for once my old local used to have a few AA's on the wall, PCP's but I always drooled looking at the stocks and the TX'HC just ticked all my boxes in what I'd like for a rifle.

Well, a shame they don't make break barrels but I'll let them off with that for now

 

Do you mind me asking but what calibre are you using and pellets too?

 

 

Matt, I know you're buttering me up, so, I may have to pop up and see you with my BSA's

I still wish to keep them along with my new rifles but I know for certain my .25 could do with seeing to and may as well see what we can do with the .22 too? I'll discuss details over a PM with you shortly.

Hello White,

 

Mines in .177 flavour, I prefer that caliber just for the flatter trajectory. Makes shot estimation that lil bit easier.

 

Mine gets on well with JSB exacts, there a good quality pellet that are consistenly the same size and also H&N trophy's.

Cracking rifles, iv got ten rifles that live with me some mine and some not but i have full use of them all and the only one missing is the TXHC another one i sold and wish i had not but hey ho we all do stupid things in our life at one point or another, and if Matty has had his hands on it then it will be top class and that i have no doubt about at all enjoy mate enjoy atvbmac :thumbs:
