Treatments are coming in now but there is such a variation in the level of activity from nest to nest.

Some nests even at this stage in the year are very slow and the size of the workers indicates that they are struggling for food supply.

Some of the nest which I have removed and inspected the size of small footballs have all been full of small workers and small cells something I have never seen before.

Speaking to a professional gardener on a job he reported reduced aphid activity possibly due to continual warm weather and little rainfall.

When out walking the dogs I have only just started seeing flight lines around woodland this last week to ten days.

Maybe it will be a really late season nature always compensates.

Look what's happened with honey bee swarms they have been at unprecedented levels this year.

Local bee keepers have found it nearly impossible to cope with the situation one reporting 60 swarm reports on a single day.

Is anyone using sorsec wasp nest destroyer.

I have used it this year for the first time but am finding it no where near as effective as sorex wasp nest destroyer mk11.

I could treat a number of nest with sorex it amazed me how little was required to deal with a significant size nest.

The sorsec product is requiring nearly a full can and even then it is not knocking them down like sorex did.

Obviously there is different actives in the products which can explain the issue but just wondered how others are getting on with it.

Wasps had a slow but early start for us, then June and July were pretty busy and now its starting to tail off.

Seeing a lot of Queens and Drones leaving the nests too, so think that's the 2014 wasp nest season pretty much wrapped up!

I have never had so many Rat or Mole jobs in the summer as we do this year!

I think this year will thin out a lot of the cowboy wasp only type folk out! Seen them treating nest for £10 trying to compete against each other.

I've had a lot of fleas and a lot of rats for the summer months. Had a squirrel job come in 2 days ago aswell ( yet to catch the bugger). The wasps have been very disappointing,

to be fair I haven't noticed as many wasp only firms advertising this year

Thanks for all your replies lads, I think you are right dkg hopefully it might thin the cowboys out a bit, I have had a fair few calls this year asking about prices then when I tell them my price they say in the local paper there is someone doing them for £20, unfortunately I tell them I cant complete with the price due to running a business. On the positive side I have been really busy with pretty much every other pests this year.

Don't be put off when people say "I'm just looking for a price" and when you tell them your price they don't take the bait, as you will be surprised how many other these calls are local competitors trying to get info about your.

I even went to the trouble of putting my competitors numbers into my mobile and you'd be surprised how many times it said *** pest control as the caller id and when I answered they we pretending to be a potential client!

When that happened I just said, Sorry we are unable to take on anymore job work as we are currently to busy, try Rentokil! lol

Wouldn't surprise me mate, I have had a lot of local mole catchers ring and email asking how much I charge, I always say no two jobs are the same so I would have to come and have a look and then give you a price that catches them out. Lol
