Laser Use.

Recommended Posts

I find it difficult scanning through the scope with my laser light, gives me a headache swinging it around, so last night I took my Pitch Black night vision unit and used it hand held (it won't fit on the hmr anyhow). Spotted the rabbits and set it down on a sandbag, roughly lined up the rifle and flicked on the laser - magic ! Worked a treat. Mind you, some of the bunnies don't like that green light and beat a retreat.

When you say it was giving you a headache do you mean viewing the illuminated target through the scope?

Also, be aware, where you are pointing it as pointing a laser skyward you need CAA clearance and could fall foul of the Aviation Authorities / Regulations.

Ah ok. I was going to say the headache could be because of the brightness. Just make sure you avoid reflective surfaces and any possibility of any part of the beam reflecting directly back into the scope eg off the moderator base.

So far as the goose shooting goes, it was just a word of warning as even a flash skyward if it's seen by a pilot may lead to a report and the police helicopter / ground units being sent to your location not to mention the trouble you might find yourself in. It's easily done. I'd hazard a guess everyone with a regular torch has shone it above the horizon at some point. Lasers are ok, but you just need to be much more careful to keep everything below the horizon as with lasers, any beams seen skyward, are an automatic report and an offence without CAA clearance.
