Andrew24 5
As title says, I have ordered a few wcs collarum and wcs tube trap from abroad very chesp to sell on, sold on to a few guys for a tidy profit so it got me thinking is it worth importing more. I have checked the spring trap approval order for approved traps in the uk and there is a fair few that you don't always see on our market and I believe a lot of companies import them also. So my question is to those in the trade, is it worth or am I just best to import them for my own use? Not sure on the legiality on it all as magnum co own sole rights to wcs traps I believe. Any info you could give would be brill. Quote Link to post

I have been involved in the importation of thousands of traps from the States and Canada... Some of the traps needing tweeking and modifying, to allow them to fall in line with UK legislation. I tested, all the various types in the field and found some of them, to be less than humane. The original Mitling trap (WCS Tube trap) did not do what it said on the tin,..and required a stronger spring and a killing bar to effect a humane kill.... There has been a lot of work done to get these traps, up to scratch for the UK,..and sometimes it has been, emotional.. The trapping market in the UK, is extremely small,..and even if you include the more lucritive Pest Control outlet,..it is still no money spinner.. Anyway, best of luck to you....regards, Phil. EDDIE B 3,166
I've imported traps from America, and found them to be no less expensive than ordering from the UK, with high shipping costs e.t.c! Good on ya, for making a profit from them! Quote Link to post
J Darcy 5,871
Why post that your'e importing these traps ? All that will happen is that WCS will insist that the few places that stock the two products will not send to UK, as WCS do themselves. In the USA the tube trap is about $30-35, but as it stands it is illegal to use in the UK, due to lack of kill bars. It's always best to keep things close to your chest than to upset the applecart, so to speak.... Quote Link to post
nod 285
What traps do you see that you can import that are not on our market? Quote Link to post
