There were numerous times when I became so incensed with the opinions of one particular contributor, no prizes for guessing who, that I stopped reading it for several months at a time. As somebody has already mentioned though, we are not exactly spoilt for choice if our penchant (hark at me using Plummer words) is lurchers, terriers and ferrets. There are a few former contributors to the CW on here, and others that may visit from time to time, but its not so much down to them, whats the point of doing an article if you send it in and the editor point blankly isnt going to use it. The success of the EDRD is down to it being run/edited the lot, by hunting men..this always comes across, as people who know the crack, can always suss out people who dont know what they are talking about, and who are maybe picking the brains of others, or getting all their information from books or other sources, and the magazine is directed at those who do...The Countrymans Weekly is selling more than enough copies in its present format and the to the people it is aimed at to worry, so it aint going to go back to the Shooting News. I personally like it, some good articles particularly by penny taylor and jakie drakeford who both talk sense, but i dont think its quite worth 2 quid. However there is some utter shit in there as well but if nothing else it makes ya laugh. Like every one else i would like to see more pre-ban articles in there as well, theres been a few article on coursing recently but foxing seems a big no-no, why?
