the show seen has went to the dogs as far as i can see and i dont see any change soon when i was a 12 year old boy walking into a show at shanes castle for one of the first time to me it was just a bit of fun for lads with working dogs real working lurchers very few proper race breed dog and terriers that you would not dare walk in this day and age it all seemed a bit of fun was i seeing it with rose tinted glasses being so young i dont know as it was a long time ago but to me people just did nt seem to care if they won a race or where placed in the show it was all abit of fun

on the way to one of these show many years ago as young boy with my first whippet crow was her name small brindle bitch a useless we thing if im honest but walking from antrim up the randalstown road i desided to give her a few run on a local farm exception nothing more than a bit of a run but ended up bagging 3 bunny the best bag she ever got so i headed on to the show chest held high bunnys in hand prod as punch of my little dog i walked in threw the main estate gate and on to the show field not thnking what the game keeper would of said if he had seen me the rabbits where swiftly remove from me by the the two men running the show that still makes me laugh now all these years late

now a day its very much diffrent most are there for one reason to win that red rosette and if it doesnt go there way the bitching startes the judge knows nothing and so on you know how it goes and this is what has pushed a lot of the good dog folk away from the show seen most still show support but most dont bring dogs along its a sad state i thought i would never see but thays how times have changed prizes ruling over all eles

i wish the new club and everyone i it the best of luck

Exactly Robert too much ill feeling around the show scene atm as you will well remember the crack we had racing our whippets and lurchers years back when it was a lot more relaxed, But time moves on and with all the social media crap going on I think it is worth a bit of effort to try to get things back on track.
