After your thoughts please

Got a 13 month old JRT pup coming back to me this afternoon from my last litter.

Dog is from long line of working stock - dam only light work, sire full time worker.

Dog went to an experienced non working terrier household. He is fine with other terriers in the house but wants to kill every other dog he meets out and about.

Do you think this dog could be trained to work if he went to the right home/kennel? He has had no experience of it so far. I cant rehome him to a non working home - I think he needs to work or else he will have to go.

Do you think anyone would be willing to take on a dog like this or am I flogging a dead horse so to speak? I just know whats behind these dogs and it could be a wasted opportunity.

Any thoughts please?

Cheers

Sarah

I dont see why not. 8 half years ago now i took a black dog on who was very unstable wanted to grab everything. After 6 months of hard earned training got him stock broke to all cattle most dogs. He was very reliable at ground although very silly when he was down there retired early and is still living the luxury life as a house pet still with me. Some dogs just need an alpha type to settle them down. Jacks are very energetic ul probs find after a few weeks off good tiring walks and some firm comands when out and about youl see a change. Not in all cases but in most

Good age to give it a look come October. .plenty time between now and then for someone willing to take a chance...got a young bitch here I wouldn't trust with any dog tied up together...she's fine off lead but tied up or kennelled she will growl/ snap for no reason. .but if she works to ground I can live with it. .

hope the dog gets the right home..atb sesku
