nothernlite 18,089
Most dogs do it they say its to cover there scent feck knows Quote Link to post
jeppi26 1,855
Once ad a terrier do it all the time but rolled in fox shit fook did he stink Quote Link to post
skycat 6,173
I think they just like the smell: perfume for dogs. Mine go mad when they find a dead fish: the smellier the better They seem to react to smelly things the same way as a cat does to catnip. I guess it's just a 'dog thing' Quote Link to post
slip lead 862
My dog at the moment tries to do it, but I can read his posture, if I'm watching at the right time that is. But all the dogs I've been involved in or owed myself, and not just lurchers, I've found that a dominate/confident dog NEVER does this. Could it be that some dogs do it to smell more dominant. It's only a guess so don't slaughter me for it.. Quote Link to post
connerdaboss 20
Could be right there slip lead, mouse ignores me when rolling in stuff and acts abit cocky for a few mins after, Normally she's spot on. Quote Link to post

skycat 6,173
The Airedale is the worst roller of them all: and the worse it smells, the better she likes it: that dog is so confident she thinks the world owes her a big smile every time she strolls by Quote Link to post
Casso 1,261
It about making a connection, dogs make connections when stimulated , when a dog is stimulated by an object it has to act , in most cases a scent can just be digested and that normally will suffice but the more powerfull the smell the more attraction it draws from the dog, It becomes a complete sensual feeling in that case which scent alone can't ground out the feeling, the top line from head to tail become part of how the dog makes contact same as how it makes contact with us , Dogs respond to humans the same way, it can't taste us , scent alone can't give it the contact it needs so it rubs its body against us same as it rubs itself in shite, Wonderful 2 Quote Link to post
