just stripped and rebuilt my mates hw 80. it was slipping the cocking shoe because it was worn as was the cock8ng arm. it had an ox spring in it, that had been fitted about 20 years ago, so I changed the spring for a standard hw spring and top hat. I changed the shoe and the cocking arm. I replaced the breech seal but after reassembling it the power is only running at 8-9 ft lbs. I didn't change the piston seal. could this be the problem??

Does the piston move smoothly in the chamber? I've just done my HW80 and the piston took quite a bit of force to move. Fitted a new seal and have to trim it down a little to get it to slide. The rifle already had an OX spring fitted so i replaced it until I get a new, smoother one. The rifle was doing 9 ftlbs before and 11.5 after. Fitted a new breach seal as well.
