wyllie 1
ive had a few types of quick release lead but find most of them pish. either the leather bursts after a while or the release mechanisms jam or are to weak and the dog can pull it off. i use a bit of blue rope through the collar now. cheap but effective Quote Link to post
Guest Frank
I use what you can see in pic below. An old lead, with the clip taken off. Quote Link to post

mad al 146
Now then I will be using a slip that I happened to find in a drawer at home , with the intention of not using a collar. I see in some of the pics, some of the dogs have their collars on. Now to me an absolute novice with sighthounds/running dogs, I see a collars as "an accident waiting to happen" with the possibility of the dog getting "strung up" . So what do ya reckon? Hunting Lad 50
I just use a old lead through the dogs collar. Nice and easy Quote Link to post
Guest mush
had all types of slip leads over the years, to much trouble. Now i just use a nylon dog lead using the clip to make anther loop which goes around your wrist the other end with the loop that your meant to hold on to goes through the dogs collar, 2 seconds and you can have it back to a lead again. terriermad 4
Now then I will be using a slip that I happened to find in a drawer at home , with the intention of not using a collar.I see in some of the pics, some of the dogs have their collars on. Now to me an absolute novice with sighthounds/running dogs, I see a collars as "an accident waiting to happen" with the possibility of the dog getting "strung up" . So what do ya reckon? i allways use a collar and slip on a lurcher as i see nothing for a lurcher to get hung up on. as long as it dont go hunting up in tight cover, as thats what terriers are for, i never use a collar on a terrier as they do get into places whare there is a chance they do get caught up. terriermad Edited October 16, 2007 by terriermad Quote Link to post
cúagusgiorraí 57
I use a cheap flat braided nylon "tie down". I tie a handle at one end and put it through just like Frank's photo. Any flat dog lead will do with the clip removed. Quote Link to post
