CharlieSlade 14
Heard a load of magpies calling in our field next to the house, went out with air rifle and crawled up to a suitable place and shot one (the bigger one) in the head and the other 3 flew off but the smaller young one didn't, so bagged that soon after with a front on chest shot and they both dropped like stones. Been trying to lessen the numbers recently as the ducks have started to sit on their eggs. Atb Charlie Edited August 2, 2014 by CharlieSlade 1 Quote Link to post

Coypu Hunter 486
Keep it up! The beggars seem to have bred like flies here in Brittany this year, so I'm thinning them out too. The last one got stuck up the tree where I shot it, so had to wait for it to rot a bit before it fell out. 1 Quote Link to post

Coypu Hunter 486
Nice work, do you shoot them with air rifles too? Cheers. Hunting and pest control with air rifles are illegal in France, even though you can buy an air rifle of up to 15 fpe muzzle energy without a licence. However, since the laws are made in Paris by townies who don't understand countryside issues, most people around here ignore the law and use air rifles to keep the vermin down. So, while you might speculate that magpies 1 & 4 were shot with an HW97K putting out Weihrauch F&T Special 8.7-grain domed pellets at 11.8 fpe, and that magpies 2 & 3 were shot with a 22LR using Winchester Long Z low-velocity 29-grain .22 Long LRNs, I couldn't possibly comment... CharlieSlade 14
Haha, so you legally you couldn't even shoot rats with an airgun? 1 Quote Link to post
Coypu Hunter 486
Haha, so you legally you couldn't even shoot rats with an airgun? Yep, legally speaking. So I'm supposed to use my shotgun or 22LR inside the chicken shed to blast rats. Yeah, right, like that's ever gonna happen! See what I mean about laws made in Paris being ignored? Here's another one, just shot a few minutes ago while trying to nick a fatball on the birdfeeder. Quite pleased with this one. Standing unsupported (although leaning my left shoulder against the tumble drier inside the utility room) at 32 yards. Heart & lung shot, dropped like a brick. Unfortunately, his mate didn't stick around to investigate. Maybe later... Quote Link to post
