Hands of Stone 154
I've found so many peoples animal husbandry so shockingly poor that i cringe when i see a sign/advert that says "ferret kits free to good home" call me sceptical but no one admits to giving them a sh1t home..... patterdalejoel 669
I haven't bought a ferret before or if I did it can't have been too pricey as I am pretty thrifty with my pennies and would remember it. I have always given away any excess kits. How much is the going rate these days in your part of the world? I am always happy to pay for good stock so don't get me wrong. You don't need any do you sirus? I'm the same never pay for them ,,,just gifted from mates or aquatences...and I've done the same when I have bred My little hunting budy vin put a thread on about,,wanting new kits and we have been inundated with offers,,,,in fact vin has been on a mission collecting stock from far and wide,,,lol,,,,going to test em out this season,,,and keep the good ones,,,and pet home the rest that little hob i got from you last year was shaping up to be a belter, was getting stick for him "messing about" and not bolting any rabbits or showing himself, should of seen their faces when i dug down to the wee bugger with 2 big rabbs in a stop end absolutely gutted when i found him curled up dead one morning, fit as a fiddle he was Quote Link to post
Kemperz21 65
Yep early litters are expensive and get cheaper as the months go on untill about now when there free I would normally give away kits or just make enough off the litter to cover costs of feeding them no need to be greedy Quote Link to post
Richardhomer 7
I was interested to read this thread as this year I got my forest ferrets. I wanted to see if I over paid for Orr got mine as a bargain. Both of mine are Jill's one pole cat and one albino. They come from working stock. I had them at 10 weeks old. From a local guy. I paid £10 each for them. Which at the time I happy to pay as I know they have to be fed and cared for, and any baby animal dose take up your time. It seems that £10 is about the average price to pay for one. I live in the black country, west midlands . On local for sale sites when I were looking for ferrets. They were asking anything from free to £20 for one. But I did notice that there were ferrets popping up from time to time being sold as "with hutch" they were asking anywhere between £20 and £40 for them. It was always the same story. Ferret one year old. Selling due to not having the time for him. Or my son no longer bothers with him..always sad to see there sorts of adverts. But I guess it's the way of the word today. A disposable world. Quote Link to post

The one 8,456
Thing is you breed a litter of kits pop a advert in letting them go for free to a tenner ?. is it worth all and sundry trepsing through your garden seeing all your stuff and a week later it goes walkabout as has happened to a few on here ?. dogmad riley 1,339
Ferret prices, I bred a litter last year and a couple of kits looked a lot like the "EU" polecats (as the dealers call them). Gave them away to a bloke and I looked at the ads this year on preloved and he has breed them making out they are true eu and black ferrets and selling them for £70 each. Ferrets should be bred for work and not looks price wise give away to friends or local ferreters, responsible newcomers, If you think you can make a living out of breeding ferrets think again Quote Link to post
pengelli 368
£10 to £15 quid up here Quote Link to post
paul999 5
sold my black nose silver kits this year for 30 quid each, good year for me Quote Link to post
PFS 12
I sell mine £10.00 a peice, that's unadvertised and to trusted people I know. It's literally just to cover a little bit of food money back. 1 Quote Link to post
fitchet 788
Couldn't be bothered with breeding this year so decided to buy in 3 were gifted and 2 we're bought for a fiver each but tbh I've mostly given spare kits away have sold a couple of older ferrets when needed by friends but kits are a pain I've allways thinned them out if there's more than I need much kinder than selling them to some cracker who's going to drop it in a warren and leave it there if it's down longer than ten minutes. muddy210 34
gave most of mine away advertised the a few on preloved for a fiver not to make money just to stop people thinking they could have one for free then see if they liked them allways give me ferrets away to working homes Quote Link to post
