nice dog pal hows it bred reminds me of my mates 2 dogs ronnie and troy we used to have fox running competitions between pairs of dogs and top trophies ,I have just spoke to my mate as he is the only 1 who has a dvd I will try and get it so I can show you the type of dog I am on about we went out with ronnie and troy had another couple of dogs as we had travelled down to wiltshire thats why travelling at a long distance you will need to take 2 pair as it is 2 far to come back if you just had 2 dogs ,anyway the night started well the first 2 dogs ran caught the fox good start then the other pair ran still a good start but the other 2 dogs got laid up after 3 so then we had to rely on ronnie and troy which between them they caught 11 that was 14 foxes in the middle of november what an enjoyable night watched alot of dogs run foxes good and bad pairs and singles but what a joy to call old charlie in and watch lurchers run what a rush pity some b*****d banned it

to be honest with you i have travelled landsend to john o groats calling foxes and i must say calling a wild fox in the middle of nowhere is one hell of a buzz stood there calling and watching a fox rush in doesnt half get your heart beating on that i must say that gives me the most buzz is calling but i also get a buzz when the fox is coming in and the lurchers or the lurcher is behind me and i am looking at them and looking at the fox and then shaking the lamp that means to let them go how good does that feel?

For me it was 100% all about the dogs although I've lamped with a few lads who loved to call and would even travel a 500 mile round trip with us without a dog of their own just to call !!! LOL

IMHO you couldnt beat running good strong winter foxes with good dogs. Some of the runs I enjoyed the most was the ones when the fox made its escape ;)

exactly trunk, they have to prove theyre worthy of earning their keep on their own 1st, then if the fox gets away it was better on the night or day not because a dog rubber gobbed it, takes as much to feed a gooden as it does a baddun

out of curiosity how many foxes would you expect to see on a night out in ireland on average?

a fair few, amongst other things too, but i only heard about lamping only dogs or daytime only dogs, rabbit dogs, fox dogs on here. to us the dog had to do it all or it wasnt kept, all rounders so to speak, maybe it was just because of the way the troubles were, ment you could only really hunt certain areas so your dog had to be open to more than 1 trick
