MIK 4,763
Just to throw something into the mix....... Before the ban myself and a very good friend were out one night with his very good dog squeaking, This dog must stand at 28ins and very powerful, not slight or tall, a proper testament to his mix of bull greyhound and desert hound blood..... This dog is what I would call a lump, a sledgehammer, no grace just gets a hold and hits again and again... We killed one fox when we were out quite sharpish, then moved on, We killed another in the next place not long after, almost straight away we killed another then another on the way back to the motor if I remember correctly 4 foxes in about 2 hours in total.... A great night for us and more importantly the dog. Now reading this you may think fair play, but we ran another 3 or 4 in this time and being honest should have killed 2 of those. Through no fault of the dog mind, it was that the hound was just f***ing knackered and maybe not quite as keen to tangle so soon after a spot of combat. Me and him discussed this over a brew on our return to his.. What's better? Knowing you have a dog more than capable of doing this on his jack in such a short time without any assistance? Or him being ran alongside another vulpine euthanising canine and sticking 8 onto the turf? For me personally, I like the idea of single handed ness, but two dogs is far cleaner and effective Yes you can only kill them once, but they'll also only be fooled once or twice Have to totally disagree STIFF.... that it was cleaner doubled ...effective in the catch maybe ...but imo the easiest part is the catch on most big quarry Its after that ,that takes the wind out the dog Quote Link to post
