Also as I have a 3/4 cabinet would there be any restriction to cutting a barrel sized hole in the top? Would this be frowned apon if the rifles were secure inside and clearly not able to be removed? celticrusader 78 Posted July 29, 2014 Report Share Posted July 29, 2014 Just take them apart for storage, most shotguns apart from semi autos and pumps you should be able to brake down. You could ask and as I've known plenty who used to have shotguns and rifles around the chimney but secured by a chain...that being said it may prove an insecurity to a fully locked safe and be a breach point!
