The Dew Stops The Hunt Or Duse It

Got to the farm for about 6,30 and as i parked the car i saw a magpie land on to of a tree about 30 yards so i got the rifle out and took aim and let go a jsb exact 15,89 22 on its way and it fell with out opening its wings just like a stone .

 

I was well chuffed as i have not shot one for months but when i went to pick it up it had fell into stinging net-ills that were about six foot tall and i was not going in there to look for it . i then went and checked zero and she was still on from the last time out so i walked down to the park and there were two sitting one nice one and one a bit smaller .

 

I went prone and could not see them properly for the table legs (for those that dont know this perm is shut to the public at six and i have a time limit when i can be there and when i have to leave so no chance of the public being around when i am)so i moved along and took aim at the big one and .......................................MISS........................30 yards ......................WHAT THE FECK .

 

I even paced it out after standing there scratching my head i took out a sticky target and set it up at 30 yards and blew the bull out with one shot ,MUST OF BEEN THE PELLET . The next one was the same and so were the next two.

 

I took the pellets out of my pocket and checked them ......................OK ..................,,,,,,,,

not one skirt was bent of deformed in eny way then my wife rang to say she was home as she had been out with her mam as its been one year since she lost her brother to the BIG C .

 

She asked if i had shot eny thing and i told her about the magpie ................................WAS

THERE TWO............................NO I SAY,D JUST ONE...............BAD LUCK IF THERE IS ONLY ONE she say,d ...........................................YER RIGHT.......................BLOODY SUPERSTITION ....................................WOMAN FOR YOU, E, LADS .

 

Off i went to the water tower field where i now there are some burrows and i lay,d up , i lay there for about twenty mins when some thing court my eye a nice big rabbit sitting ...........

........................at the right side of me not more than five feet away from me ...............BUT THE RIFLE WAS POINTING IN THE WRONG DIRECTION and as i turned to line the rifle up it ran and dived down its hole (1 magpie bad luck) i waited for about half an hour to see if it would come back out but it did not.

 

So i moved to another spot and saw another laying low and not moving so i took aim and took my time and squeezed the trigger ..........................I JUMPED UP GUN HELD HIGH above my head with one hand as if i was going to smash it off the ground FEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEECK.................FEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEECK......FEEEEEEEEECK

 

MIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISS again (1 magpie bad luck) i was jumping around and cursing to my self thats when i saw the farmer from the next farm sitting on his quad bike or shud i say hanging on to it with laughter i went over to see him and he say,d he had been watching me and it was better than watching the tv so i told him about the magpie and he say,d O, O, O one magpie is bad luck YER RIGHT

 

So off i set again but this time on the way back to the car i came across one sitting up on a little embankment with just its head sticking out so i lay prone and set a jsb on its way it rolled down and into the field i had to look twice to see if i had got the bloody thing but i had and a nice shot to (ill put up a close up of it just for you rez) ba bad luck one magpie

not a chance .

 

I set about gutting it and as i stood up and looked a round the dew was coming in across the fields like a big bloody wave i stood there and watched it roll over the fields in seconds the fields were covered by about five feet of dew .....................WELL THAT TOPS EVERY THING OFF ......................AND IM OFF HOME...............ONE MAGPIE BAD LUCK .

Raider single shot 22 its a cracking bit of kit fitted with ncstar 10,40,50 scopes and a twink silencer love it to bits iv got the use of 10 rifles some mine and some members of the family and i use this one 9 times out of ten atvbmac :thumbs:

Dont know about 1 magpie bad luck how 10 magpies haha got bloody loads of the things around here but you thibk you can get the the buggers tried everything and still no luck so gonna leave them alone a while and see if they come around abit
