Just A Quick Walk About

Recommended Posts

I went for a 1 hour walk with my air rifle on one of my dads friends land which is about 3 minutes away from my house, there is usually lots of rabbits about but as the cover crop has grown up above knee height it is very difficult to spot them. I went across the upper fields (where the cover crop is) and saw nothing other than pheasants and partridges. But as I was waking down the path which runs through the land I saw an adult rabbit sat grazing oblivious to me or much else, as I slowly walked up I noticed a pheasant sat near it ignoring me too, it had cut tail feathers so I assume it's one of this years released. Anyway I went for the crouching shot about 25 yards away, took aim, a little hold under and thwack a .22 pellet right in behind the eye sent it bowling over and a couple kicks was it. Later on I was walking further up the path when I saw a rabbit about 15 yards from me, aimed and missed. Was too easy I'd not taken my time and rushed the shot, the rabbit sprinted to the nearby hedgerow, I'd seen a couple of kits aswell still sat there but as the landowner is reasonably casual about the rabbits I left them for another day when they're grown up.

This is my first airgun hunting write up so I hope you enjoy
