i must admit i enjoyed watching benn he got hit a lot in this his 19th fight no thought of defence but the big punch prevailed.

Fury was contracted to fight Chisora...he trained for weeks to fight Chisora...chisora pulls out with a few days to go...why would he want to fight Chisora's sparring partner?!...whats that really worth to him...he's obviously talking about not ducking boxers on his level...Chisora Haye Wilder ect...not taking on all-comers in the phones4u arena car park!

 

I might be wrong but isnt Ustinov a top 10 rated fighter......IBF number 8.....WBA number 9.....and Chisora number 8 with the WBA......so its not as if he wasnt on Furys level if Chisora was on his level..................Ustinov would also of been fighting a man he hadnt prepared for......plus only being in sparring shape NOT in fight shape like Fury was..............................at the end of the day if you dont want a fight for whatever reason dont sign to it........if this hasnt showed Fury that his team are just not up to it and not experienced/professional enough in boxing matters.....then nothing will.

 

I struggle to get me head around all the differnt rankings...i simply use the trade mags Ring/boxing news ect as a rough guide...Ustinovs wasnt a name i'd heard alot about...just watched his fight with David Tua...laughable...didnt see anything that would suddenly scare Fury out of the fight to be honest...but agree its bad business from his team...there often seems to be a lack of discipline in Furys camp...sparring without head guards...and the poor condition he has sometimes rocked up in on fight night...but if thats how the lads comfortable to train...so be it...Eddie Chambers is no novice and he's happy enough training with them...i think Fury's a talented boxer...with good potential...wether he forefills that potential is another thing...

Its no different to what it ever was Max.......why do you want to see Joshua fighting top opponents already he,s a 4 fight novice !.................young fighters records were always padded out with learning fights its nothing new................what is new is these young prospects are now in the public spotlight from day 1.

 

Nigel Benn never took a punch for the first 17/18 fights of his career !.....Neither did Mike Tyson.........but then neither of them were Olympians......nobody has a problem with young pros getting established and then making their way in the game.....what i have a problem with is the likes of Ogogo or Joshua queing up for promotional deals before even turning pro,then turning pro being under public scrutiny and getting stick from folk like you for not getting in wars as a 4 fight novice.

i remember watching an old interview with cus demato, he said they only test they had for picking tysons 1st ten opponents was to hold a mirror under their nose to check they were breathing...lol. back in the day, unless you was an out and out boxing fan, you wouldn't hear of a fighter till he had a good few fights under his belt and was proving himself. nowadays, as others have said, they get a medal, turn pro and are headlining shows on their 1st bout! bad for the game i.m.o. talkng about throwing joshuah in with ranked fighters when he's just starting off is just silly talk, everyone has to learn their trade/prove themselves before they step up to, or deserve a shot at fighters who have already put in the hard work.

R.E. Fury, i think it would do him the world of good to f**k off over to another country where he is off the radar, get into a good gym and train/fight with out all the silly bollocks that seems to follow him around...but i very much doubt it will happen...

It was Micky Duff that picked all Tyson's early opponents...to be fair Tyson was already proven in amateur tournaments and un official smokers...as a 15yr old knocking out 21yr olds...but i agree with a lot of what you say...take for instance a high profile fighter like Chris Eubank Jr...16-0...and compere him with a young lad like Nick blackwell...whos already fought for English and British titles...whilst Eubank is still beating up bums...at this stage of his career he will learn nothing from fights like his last...which make crap viewing...and seem to over shadow a lot of the small hall British title fights...most of which are good entertaing fights

As great a sport as boxing is,it is too corrupt and the fans miss out because of 'businessmen' like Mayweather.

That's where a big organisation like the UFC having a complete monopoly on the sport becomes such a benefit,no ducking or dodging.

Even if we just had 1 belt per weight in boxing that would be enough to make sure most of the big fights happen.

But when was boxing any different ?.......when the mafia were dictating who became champions and what rounds they went down in did we think one day people would be calling them the good old days !!......Today you have Frank Warren and Eddie Hearn in uk......in my day you had Terry Lawless/Mickey Duff/Mike Barrat/Jarvis Astaire/Harry Levene and thats just in London...............Are Golden Boy any different to Arum or Don King ?

Yes but we would be watching far less boxing.....simple............dont get me wrong i cant stand the amount of belts there are today any more than i can stand 3 or 4 lb seperating weight divisions.................but like much else in life folk want quantity,especially tv companies ............top fighters only fight once/twice per year nowadays.......dont forget everybody in professional boxing has to earn a living thats fighters,trainers,managers,promoters,sight venues,tv companies..........right down to gyms,sparring partners,dieticians etc etc................ one or two top fights per year cant cover all that.

Completely agree with this......its the main thing wrong in the sport in my opinion..... " creating an image " is becoming almost as popular as fighting itself.......we are sponsoring a promising young lad at the moment as he was spending longer running round trying to create an image to make him popular than he was spending time in the gym.....its a terrible situation for young prospects to be in where having talent is not enough....................The Eubank kid has a famous surname to kick start his career,the Olympians have a medal to kick start theres......................yet dedicated promising youngsters off the street are having to scratch around making fools of themselves just to get noticed at it seems you can no longer just fight your way to the top !!

Agreed , the media , especially TV , seem to prefer to latch onto a " clean cut , Olympian " give him a contract , next thing after 2 wins hes doing TV adverts , 18 months later hes vanished off the scene , no wonder they have no heart or fire in them , bit different to the Mexican from the slums who needs to win to eat !
