Axholmeman 3
As a kid I used to shoot shotgun right handed and was right eye dominant but over the years and during my long absence from shotguns I have somehow become left eye dominant. Other than shooting left handed or closing my left eye I'm thinking about 'retraining' my right eye using a 5" fibre optic sight on my gun. Has anyone tried this with any success? Are there any other things I could try? Cheers Quote Link to post
celticrusader 78
I have seen someone shoot both eyes open with the sight on the for end deliberately off centre and the same on the rear sight in opposite direction ...as to say that the setup was unique it worked and the old guy using it was bloody ancient ha ha. Lid 194
A relative of mine simply changed shoulders! However he was always strongly left eyed and right handed. How dominant is your left eye now? Quote Link to post
Axholmeman 3
Although I can't determine the level of dominance if i do the test in the link below I am very "left eyed". http://www.wikihow.com/Determine-Your-Dominant-Eye Quote Link to post
CharlieSlade 14
I'm left eye dominant and right handed, and I shoot off my left shoulder, it helps because then I've got my stronger right arm to swing the gun with Quote Link to post

I just point at something and then shut either eye. In fact I can't do that test as I can't shut my right eye and have to use my spare hand to close it! If you are definitely now strongly left eyed, I think changing shoulders is a good option, but I am sure it will take a few weeks before you get used to it. Quote Link to post
charlie caller 3,654
I am right eye dominant, but shoot left handed, never a problem for me until I get long range left to right crossing birds, all I do is dim/half close my right eye, I would practice and see how it effects you before making any drastic changes. celticrusader 78
Its a shame guys, the armed forces make you shoot right handed otherwise the traveling cocking handle would smash your teeth out and dump hot brass in there as a parting gift .lol Edited July 22, 2014 by celticrusader Quote Link to post
