Ggib 370
why didnt you just force the window further down instead of busting it? fair play but i dont think she will see the error of her ways. I didn't even think about that mate just put my foot straight through it ........ its just your inner john rambo coming to light in the case of emergencies It's my dense brain not being able to think of another solution ........... at least that westie thinks your his saviour, bet he was glad when you gave him the water. you should have just let on you worked for a dog rescue centre and i bet the police would have bowed down to ya
jonah. 775
Popped down town earlier and as I parked up the car next to me had a little fat westy in it the car window on the rear passenger side was cracked about an inch and the dog was in the advanced stages of overheating and dehydration he was just about stopping panting his tongue was swollen he had frothy spit all over his mouth .... he was in a bad way ... I did have a quick look around and asked a few people but nobody claimed ownership so I was left with no option but to smash the window take the dog out and put him in the back of my truck with the air con on full ... Using the air con and water I managed to get the dog half decent and got him drinking a little when all hell broke loos ... Long story short the dopey mate that owned the car whent nuts that I had bust her window claiming it was well open and the dog was fine etc .... She phoned the police and the usual who did what ensued ... Luckily for me the few people I asked about the dog witnessed the whole thing and were able to back up my story ... Anyway the long and short of it was that I have to pay for her window to stop it going to court ... A small price to pay if its taught her a lesson and saved the dog but still, pissed me off a bit ...........Fair play socks, plenty would have walked on by. To be honest mate it was luck ... My truck has a two inch lift on it so I could see straight down into the car which is the only reason I noticed the poor mut ........... Matters not mate, thing is ,you did right and the mutt gets another shot at life, bet the woman will think twice next time, even if it's just preservation of her Windows. Lid 194
Good on your mate with the garage too. What about a call to the local rag, or even a national? I am out the country at the moment, but hasn't there been another incident like this in the recent hot spell back in the UK somewhere?

fireman 10,917
Well done mate. However as everyone has said she was in the wrong not you. Out of interest how did the price for the window get calculated so accurately? Clearly that copper who attended needs educating - I m sure there's lots of publicity about not leaving dogs in cars when hot and windows being smashed if you do. My mate owns a garage so as soon as the copper whent on about paying I rung him and he priced the window and because of the circumstances will fit it free ........ Well tell your mate to check her oil levels in her gear box etc as after your good turn you wouldn't want a very exspencive problem with her car occuring would you ,i know i would be
