Funny How Things Have Changed

I feel quite jealous reading some of this !! ...our days were filled making devious plans to jump the postman/milkman or playing 3 and in or all day runouts while trying to avoid the innevitable clashes with rival groups of 12 year olds off other estates :D .........................digging foxes, making dens and crossbows, lucky fuckers ! .....Enjoyable read this

We used to call for a pizza fly kick the bloke soon as he pulled up and be so many of us he'd not bother. Eat the pizzas we'd ordered then kick off the box and could fit 3 of you on it. Dunno if that counts lol. As for fighting other estates that was as close to football violence I'd ever get I think seeing as I hate football lol. We'd all go to the other estate and have it out. Even getting a kick in was a good rush even if it did hurt at the time. Sounds so pathetic now I'm older but it was a buzz back in the day traveling with all your pals and going to have a fight. Guess it changed with the times though and had someone get stabbed to death over it all. Remember meeting birds from the other estate and always thinking I'd be set up or bump into them.I'm only 23 and used to hate when older people would tell me, it wasnt like that in my day. Thing is I'm only 23 and finding myself thinking the same thing. I'd hate to be young now seems to me kids are kind of forced to grow up alot faster. Life has also got cheaper and many are too young to even understand what it is their doing.
am i reading this right your only 23 and would hate to be young again ?lol Edited by nothernlite

darethat's one of the big differences between now and then, I was a right twat when I was younger, lots of petty thieving and mischief making, nick the pop bottles from the back door and take them back through the front door, scrumping apples and pears, veg from someones allotment or garden, milk off a doorstep, but calling for a pizza and then giving the driver shit tells a lot about the changes in attitudes between the ages, I`m approaching my half century so don`t think I`m that old but by f**k things have changed since I was a nipper, don`t know if anything is better these days or not but in some instances a good back hander from the parents or a slap from a cop would do some of the scroats some good, and even tho I had some right sadistic barstewards for teachers they should be given some power back

thats the thing back then you wouldnt harm anyone now and in dares day which was not that long ago by the sounds of it they dont give a feck to kick someone and steal the pizza ffs guy probally has to pay for that out his own pocket good old days have gone long ago

Feck me, did we all go to the same school or something, I could have gone through all them activites and ticked almost all of them off.

Cant believe the old peg gun didnt get a mention though  I used to sell them to the younger lads. Had them knocking at my door at 7.30am asking if I can make them a peg gun for 40p  and the catty`s made out of the old wire sprung bed bases.. Ahh, the good old days..

its a shame that most of humanity have forgotten where they have evolved from ,......kids brought up in the cities all there lifes , haven't seen some wild animals , yet move to the country side and try and dictate whats right and wrong ,........times have changed for sure and will get worst , as long as were lining the pockets of wealthy selfish politicians who think they know so much about the welfare of the countryside , they let money do the talking and fail with every stupid law and legislation introduced too such a low matter such as the countryside , the past was great way of life , the future looks very grim , keep hunting on....

I used to do all sorts but I've never thieved or beaten someone up for a pizza!! Crazy. Remember in the Summer, about 10 o'clock at night and thinking bloody hell it's still early but you've got your mam shouting it's bed time....errr no it's not it's only early! Then realising the time. Just completely lost track by exploring, playing footy, making dens, fires, spears, bow and arrows, skimming stones, rope swings down the river etc, messing about in the mud lol. We just got let out and told to be in by a certain time, none of this now where you get social services on your case if you dare leave your child for ten seconds...

Good times.

We used to go ratting down on the river bank with an older lads dads 12 bore. No one batted an eyelid Remember weed killer and sugar?. Mix em up half and half. Fill a set of handlebars with the mixture. Hammer one end shut and leave enough of a hole at the other end for a sparkler. Light it and leg it. Top times

Hmmm I dunno mate has always been little shits about surely? Some of the stuff my dads pals got upto makes kicking a bloke of his pizza ped tame. We knew right from wrong though is no excuses for it just a scummy thing to do. Young and suppose didnt think enough to care. Some poor bloke trying to earn aliving, would be the first to tell kids to cut it out if I saw that going on today now I'm older. These days I think the younger lot grow up to fast. Probably down to tv and kids having kids. Some people are so immature and thick its quite worrying to think they've reproduced.

We used to nick the bales of straw and make hay jumps under trees or at the the bottom of cliffs at the quarry, bird nesting fishing swimming scrumping.made a few bob selling sticks.there was a old guy across the road that i used to go out with catching birds with mist nets or liming. The lads i knocked around with had feck all we used to be called the raged arse rangers lol. I got brought up by my grandparents and if i came home late the door would be locked and it was no good knocking the door as they would not let me in,spent many a night sleeping in the dog kennel. If i could have my childhood again there would not be much i would change

I used to do all that and I'm only 28 but lived across the roads from farmland and a golf course we used to sell balls back to the golfers. Run onto the green and nick the balls and sell them further round the course. Play football with bbq firelighters spray lynx on our jumpers and trainers and set it alight and run around the park. Climb big firm trees and jump out and see who dared to jump from the highest. We used to play footie down the park untill our mum or dad came to get us and we used to rip the piss out of whoever had to go home first. In the summer holiday my dad would come home and be like so what did you do today lol. He grew up on the same road I did and he used to show me places and be like ye we did that. I grew up on the edge of a city. The reason kids get into trouble now is that they don't have the access to the woodland and open space and they are not let out as much so they get naughty it's just surcumstance not their fault. One of the funniest things was watching my brother get chased out of a paddock by a wildly bucking goat I have never seen him climb a fence so fast

building huts, bonfires, peg shooters, bmxing and nearly killing ourselves with ramps haha, making bangers from paper caps, sparkler bombs (anyone make them?) rounders, running riot in derelict buildings, knick knock, water fights, some good replys on here.

Ah I remember the water fights lol also had a disused building that we called our base. I actually forgot about it until this, can't remember what we used to do there or talk about. It had a sofa in there and that's about it. Backed onto some woods which had nettles but we had no problem running through if we was being chased and had to loose people.
