Not said owt till now. So here's my tuppence worth for what good it's worth. Folk ask to be deleted. Why the long drawn out affair?? Or the condescending replies from some Mod's?? yup there's some wan

Probably the only comment from me on the whole affair   I can understand why Ian did what he did. He owns the site, and as such has a responsibility for it`s content (to an extent). The advertiser

Here's the way I look at it ..................No one is holding a gun to my head to come on so If i don't want to come on then I won't.   I've never be to a pub and asked a landlord to ban me.......

My two pennyworth regarding people not logging in as opposed to being banned is quite simple,

Those members who don't choose to be a member of the site any more may, at one point before things turned sour, have offered some constructive views to others which can be searched and read again by new or other members,

If we deleted every "martyr member" first of all the site would look a mess like it used to with banned members in older threads. Secondly that did and would put others off from posting similar good things. They would see one post, see it was written by a now banned member and think it was because of that post when in fact it was a post two years later.

I really don't see the issue with not logging in and resuming their account if they wanted to in future.

Your kind of missing my point.....

The " if you don't want to come on, don't log in" arguement is wearing a bit thin now :icon_redface:

If someone wants to be disassociated from the site - for whatever reason, maybe to lose posts, photos, content etc etc that they've put on the past, surely its only fair that the man in charge, - Ian B in this case, does the decent thing and just deletes their account?

None of this martydom/banning shit, just a straight forward, OK, no probs your gone?

I realise that the mods can't do this, they can only push the red button but its not too much too ask, especially as members who have asked to go have to resort to putting up content to get theirselves banned because no one has the common courtesy to just delete their account without any bad feeling.

Cheers, D.

Probably the only comment from me on the whole affair

I can understand why Ian did what he did.

He owns the site, and as such has a responsibility for it`s content (to an extent).

The advertisers could never put up with the racisim and porn content so it was a matter of time before it went.

Because of this change, people were not ammused (righty or wrongly) thats the way people are, christ knows I was a right pain when Whin was banned for adding hunting content ! :whistling:

Now heres where it goes a little awry for me.

Instead of placating members and holding on to them, the attitude was " get a life, don`t come on the forum" a strange thing for a site owner to preach, but with the massive membership numbers, maybe not so strange.

That coupled with a slightly :whistling: condesending attitude from a Mod or two, and you have members leaving.

These two above matters have confused me slightly as I saw no need for either attitude. I`m well aware people are strange, and some really need to be told to fukc off , but at the same time, valued members leaving is never good for a forum.

Anyway, it`s summertime,, everyone just chill,, it`ll soon be September.

I shot 4 rabbits last week and swapped them for wild boar sausages ! yay! now THATS a hunting life !

They all joining a new site or something?

they all make new sites with a handful of members from here, it lasts a few months an then they all come back due to lack of members.

If you join there sites it's all the same content as this site anyway

I heard this ones got some of the good old members on ands going to be a good one in the future, I might be wrong tho.

You see, I have this undeserved reputation for being 'Mr Ban', but whenever I challenge anyone to tell me who I've banned that I shouldn't have, I get nowt but silence?

its being guilty by association, everybody associates you with being the hunting life pierepoint so you could be seen as guilty for being the executioner.

Whatever

Again, you have failed to provide one single example

Not the executioner but deffo the most anal mod  and often wondered if it's missionary only for you your so straight at times Matt.:laugh:
