Alsone 789
Totally amazing technology but with some worrying implications for both sporting shooting and military / terr0rism alike: Quote Link to post
SportingShooter 0
Awesome, But slightly concerning and boring... Quote Link to post
Rake aboot 4,936
Dull I`d rather shoot running boar with open sights. Quote Link to post
Alsone 789
Yeah it does completely remove the skill. Plus if some idiots get hold of this, you can imagine all the wildlife getting wiped out in one area. Quote Link to post
3175darren 1,101
Its gone mad, if I am honest I think that stuff should be exclusively for the military, all we need is that equipment falling into the wrong hands, and our boy's loose advantage, its bad really but where does it end, Quote Link to post
Born Hunter 17,831
I can't see the video. If it's the guided 50bmg I've read about it. They've had guided artillery for a few years now, only a matter of time before the technology was compressed. Quote Link to post
Alsone 789
I can't see the video. If it's the guided 50bmg I've read about it. They've had guided artillery for a few years now, only a matter of time before the technology was compressed. It can be fitted to any rifle. Basically it's like a guided system. From watching the video...There's a video crosshair. You put the crosshair on the target then click to designate it. The aiming point is then fixed to the target. You then go to live fire mode and depress the trigger again but the gun doesn't fire until you get the cross hairs exactly back over the designated point at which point it fires automatically. You have to pre-enter windage. Apart from that, everything else is calculated for you and accuracy is pin point at ranges well in excess of 1,000 yards. They had a steel plate at 1,000 yards with a novice shooter, and he had a grouping of 3 bullets touching each other and the other one probably no-more than 1 inch from that group. Oh right, well you'll love the precision guided 50BMG rounds being developed by DARPA then. They're laser guided and so are capable of correcting for any local changes in trajectory by use of fins. For instance if the wind suddenly gusted. Once you have the weapon locked onto that laser designator you fire and forget and the round guided itself. Quote Link to post
