Recommended Posts

I came into possesion of a nitro venom through a trade for some ferreting kit i no longer used. I wasnt convinced of the power so put it on a chrono. 4-6ftlb, something was wrong! having replaced seals now it cant even push a pellet out so i have come to the conclusion its a gas ram fail.

does anyone know anywhere i can get a new one of these fitted as i am struglin to source.

I found one place, asi crossman, very helpful guy but hes out of stock.

cant get one imported and fit myself as the american rams are 23ftlb and i dont have a fac.

I've just taken a FAC HW97K apart, it was scary the first time, because I didn't know what to expect, but now it's routine. Just arrange all the parts that come off the rifle on your bench from left to right, then put them back on from right to left, and make sure you don't have any bits left over. ;)

You don't need a spring compressor, just a bit of muscle to keep the guts inside the rifle while you unscrew the last few turns of the end cap. Put the rifle's fore-end into a padded vice and lean into it, and it won't explode all over the room. To get the guts back in, put the muzzle onto a pad on the ground, lean on it and slowly screw the end cap back in.

Taking it apart will also give you the chance to clean any factory gunk out with petrol, and re-lube in the appropriate places. I had a FAC Nitro Venom for a while, and modded the trigger until it broke like glass. Transformed the rifle into a very nice shooter -- pity the weaver rail was welded on at an angle to the barrel by the Chinese factory!

Your biggest problem will probably be finding the right guts. Email Sandwell Fieldsports with what you need, they'll reply pretty quickly by email in my experience, and tell you what they can offer. They do mail order for tuning kits etc., and if they can't help, I'm sure they can point you in the right direction. Email: sandwellfs@yahoo.co.uk
