Richard Warwick 50
i knew of one was apparenly a demon on rabbits, was a very young dog. i didn't see it run but a mate did and said it was great for short distance slips Quote Link to post
whitefeet4190 1,725
This is my saluki x whippet a nats dick under 25 tts and does the job very well and he is not just a 1 trick pony built like a grass hopper but the heart of a lion and would keep up with any saluki staminer wise but faster off the mark, likes to get the job done quick rather than settle in to a steady pace, would defiantly say they are worth a go 2 Quote Link to post
strayshot 105
Just wondered what this cross is like, ive heard loads about saluki greys but not whippets wonder if they have as good stamina ect Ped whippets generally have better stamina than greyhounds so that shouldn't be an issue. whitefeet4190 1,725
Lol good pic, mine was a bugger, he started off amazingly well which surprised me he caught his very first rabbit on the lamp and retrieved it like a Labrador live to hand, I only gave him a couple of slips while out lamping but he went on like this for months then all of a sudden decided he wasn't going to run anything and just stood there and watched the rabbit run off in the beam, he had lost all drive, I was absolutely gutted I tried everything I knew gave him time off, took to bone man but nothing would work so I gave him away to a old bloke that I knew that just did a bit of ferreting which the dog loved so thought that would be ideal, but a week later I had a phone call asking if I'd have the dog back as he wouldn't stop whining and wouldn't eat, so long story but got the dog back and thought if give him one last chance, and from then on he has a do or die attitude and is as game as they come, I know it was my fault not the dogs think I was too hard on him as a yongster as I had heard how stubborn the salukis can be I was affraid he was going to have no manners and just be a general b*****d, but I am so glad he came right but it's mad how one little dog can teach you such a big lesson lol 2 Quote Link to post
