trigger2 3,137
me and a mate had a afternoon out on the pigeons yesterday. first time in a long while as there just hasnt been many birds in our area. my mate had spotted these birds feeding on barley saturday afternoon on his way back from shopping with his misses. about 5 oclock saturday afternoon i got a call from him saying he has found some birds but didnt know whos ground they were on and was i up for a look round tomorrow (sunday) to which i replied yes. i got to his yesterday morning and off we went to the spot he had seen the birds in the day before, and just has he said there was plenty of birds about, they looked to be traveling in from 2 different areas from a long way off. we drove round for a while and knocked a couple of doors to find out who he land belonged to, but unfortanatly for us we couldnt get permission on the ground. anyway with that many pigeons about we didnt give up door knocking and we managed to get some permission on some grass fields that were under one of the flight lines. with that we got set up and it wasnt long before the first bird decoyed and in less than five minutes we had 4 birds for the magnets. once we had got them set up they came in steady but some of birds were not taking any notice of the decoys and flying past them and sitting in a tree about 70yards to our left. my mate set up just a hide next to the sitting tree and the action was steady for about 4 and a half hours. we started at 1 oclock and packed up at 5.30 with plenty of bodies scattered about. we finished on a 176 pigeons for me and 96 for my mate just to the left of me. great afternoon on a spot of new ground that we are welcome back on anytime we like. i never took the camera as it just hasnt been worth it lately so i have missed out on some good end of day photos. 1 Quote Link to post
