I used to live with a lad ,,clarkey,,,,he done 7 year in the marines,,,went in just after the Falklands aged 17,,, came out about a week befor the gulf war,,,lol...

 

He told me his first day the Sargent major locked him in a locker for 5 hours,,,and none of the other lads were to let him out,,,he was a good mate but a jumpy fecker in a morning,,,,if you went in his room to wake him,,,he would get up swinging still half asleep,,lol

wasnt this from a few years ago ?

anyway my cousin was in the RM for a few years ended up leaving and working on the ships protecting them from pirates ..recons the money is out of this world he did say he was planing on going for SBS selection but thought better of it lol.

Identical to my mate he was a RM for several years.

 

He worked with the Special Forces Support Group in Afghan before he finally came out and went on the ships. A more unassuming man you would care to meet, not a big lad in any way in fact he comes across as a little shy.

my cousin is a little ginger scrawny thing lol very very quiet but a temper you wouldnt believe for his size ..

My daughter watched it, she wants to be an army vet !! ( yeah, me either!!) but fair play......they will put her through uni the whole works if she leaves with good results in exams

That's no bad thing, every family should have a Vet and a Solicitor! :D

most of the young'un today cant hack it there all talk , lad up the road always givin it the bigun thinks he s a hard case was shouting his mouth of how he was going to join the army I laughed and told him id give him a week well of he went and I saw him 2 days later and asked why he was back -- he got shouted at cryed and came home to mummy -- whimp so whilst walkin the dogs one night I grabbed him and frog marched him to home sat him down got the medals out told him what was what and what for tried to educate the tosser but I think I was wasting my time

It was what I wanted to do when I left school.............. did the old interview down the careers office even sat a test . Another job came up and I took it , forking Glad I did now.

 

I got the impression things would have been a bit tougher without the film crew about. Must be a massive shock to the system thrown into that environment , No sleep and told when to eat and how to eat when to wash. For those that have in been in the services ................Is it the small things not the screaming and shouting that's difficult ?
