Zastava .22-250 Rifle

Recommended Posts

Dont worry about barrel wear mate, unless you are target shooting, you will have a hell of a job wearing the barrel out under normal use, foxing, maybe the odd deer, just think mate, how many rounds do you fire on the average night foxing? If I fire five I have had a bloody good night, more like two, as I have said before I have a keeper mate who has had his .22-250 since the eighties, he has shot hundreds of foxes with it and it is still spit accurate, one thing I will say, when you are zeroing, dont let the barrel get hot, let it cool before firing your next shot, it is the quickest way to wear the barrel, and dont think I am trying to teach granny to suck eggs, but take your moderator off after every time you use the rifle, cf is not like rf where you can leave it on, do it on a cf, and you will kill the crown and threads, I am sure you already new that Dan, but its surprising how many dont, when you getting it mate?

It certainly is as Danw says, it will rot out your crown, threads, and first bit of your barrel, that is why the crappy t8 moderators rot from the inside.

After you fire a cf round there is the potential for condensation to form this sits around the crown and last few inches of the barrel if you don't remove the mod it sits there and rusts pretty soon y

Thanks for the info coypo hunter appreciate it. Sounds like a decent rifle then.   Atb Dan

I very much appreciate the advice mate. I didn't know that and have the habit of taking off the rimfire mods when in storage. How long should I leave barrel to cool? And also how often should I clean the barrel?

Its currently not screwcut but will be getting it done and looking at the T8 mods

Thanks again

And as said I really appreciate the advice mate.

The ones that state if I can't own it then I'm not aloud to touch it in the shop...those rules that certain shop owners treat some of us like children haha, I know a lot do not have that problem and are even very friendly with some of them.

Sometimes they allow me in the back to have a look at what ammo they have on offer sometimes theyve been rude and said "no!... you wait here" after I've attempted to have a gander.
