mjr88 50
Hi all I'm considering buying the new Vortex 3-12X42 sf scope for my CZ Varmint .22 rimfire, and I was just wondering what size mounts I would need for this scope, should I buy it. I currently have high mounts on my 50mm objective lens scope, and medium mounts on a 40mm, but I've never had a 42mm scope before,Regards,John Quote Link to post
shropshire dan 467
Being a sf scope medium mounts should be ok mate Quote Link to post
andyf 144
Whatever make/type you use, the object (42mm) should be as close to the barrel as you can get it. Also the reach forward Sportsmatch sets allow you to set the eye relief much more easily, and keep the mounts ideally at each end of the parallel body of the scope. Quote Link to post
mjr88 50
Thanks for the replys lads I ended up buying the new updated version of the Vortex, as above, I paid £256 posted. This was a saving of over £30 (according to the salesman anyway) I have also found a set of Hawke one piece medium mounts, that was sitting in a cupboard under the stairs. If these mounts turn out unsatisfactory though, I'll invest in some dearer ones, probably sportsmatch, Atb, John Vortex Diamondback HP : http://www.vortexoptics.com/product/vortex-diamondback-hp-3-12x42-riflescope-with-dead-hold-bdc-reticle Edited July 9, 2014 by mjr88 Quote Link to post
