COMPO 54
Pointless, and it must also be bloody hard work to muzzle a ferret....... I did once know someone who came by a jill ferret that the moron who had her before had snapped her canine teeth in half using a pair of pliers..... If I recall correctly someone went and gave him some amateur dentistry so he knew what it felt like...... 2 Quote Link to post

northern lad 2,292
I dont think Fred would have been using muzzles in his later years....he was a forward thinking man,it was he who originally thought of using a vasectomised hob to bring jills out of season, and was housing his ferts in courts before theyd been thought of Dick Walker was lauded with the invention of many fishing techniques that were actually invented by Fred ,not that it bothered either of them ...RIP Fred and Dick 1 Quote Link to post

COMPO 54
Fred was a legend, me and him had a mutual friend, dick hawkins, sadly dick is dead now too........ Fred as I understood wasn't into running dogs as he concentrated on catching rabbits, not the dog....... 1 Quote Link to post

Poacherspocket 189
No need for them here,,, But I have watched a few vids on YouTube ,,of ferreting in lanzerote,,and the Canary Islands ,,and they do it with string,,and I must say it was done in a very slick manner,,and the ferrets were very well handled ,as they didn't struggle ,,,I suppose using ferrets there in the rock holes,,and lava fissures ,,,it makes sence,,,and I assume no natural preditors ,,,although I'm sure there would be rats there Think I watched the same clip I think the reason they do it is because of the terrain as obviously they couldnt dig the ferret out if it did kill.
