The one 8,469
Just as a odd suplement at that age they should be getting meat with bones ect for the minerals etc to help there development Quote Link to post
Ferret kent 12g 17
They do get a lot of rabbit but they don't eat a lot of the bones maybe a leg or two would I be best to just buy chicken wings then as they will have meat and bones?? Thanks ? Quote Link to post
rabbit demon 302
Used to give mine day old chicks, everything they need in them. Meat bone and feathers. Meant to be good for them. Quote Link to post
The one 8,469
D.O.C. are just a bit fluff in a shell never had time to develope muscle , bone etc fine once twice a week but no more the fluff can irate the mucus in some ferrets throat Quote Link to post
mushroom 12,881
Can't beat a real varied diet for them, whole animals guts an all is the most natural. I used to chuck a handful of biscuits into the court for them to keep active and curious but never as a complete diet. The one is right chicks are Shiite as a complete food for them Quote Link to post
pie-eater 377
Its a shame the chicks are so crap nutritionaly because theyre dirt cheap and all ferrets seem to love them. As said above whole animals like rabbit pigeon corvid squirrel are always going to be the best. 1 Quote Link to post
Ferret kent 12g 17
But if I don't shoot anything what can I buy because I don't think the butcher sells squirrel LOL They will be eating rabbit and pigeon most day but I just want to know what I can buy if for some reason I've not got any pigeon or rabbit in the freezer??? Thanks for all the advice so far ??? Edited July 7, 2014 by Ferret kent 12g Quote Link to post
rabbit demon 302
Suppose your right lads, their wouldn't be much in the chicks, they are just wee balls of fluff. Quote Link to post
pie-eater 377
I buy chicken wings when I have nothing else. Ive got no rabbits at all at the mo so Im feeding wood pigeon and the odd few chicken wings. They wont eat nearly as much once theyre full grown so you should then find it easier to shoot enough to keep them fed. Edited July 7, 2014 by pie-eater Quote Link to post
oxo 441
Some are finicky twats, mine will not eat crows but jackdaws are ok, they bury chicken wings rather than eat them and mice seem to be their favourite of all, go wild for them "killing" them though they are already dead! Quote Link to post
Ferret kent 12g 17
Thanks @pie-eater .. I will give the chicken wings a try ? I give them abit of the lamb heart today ( cut up half of it they were on and eat it really fast and then went on to the rabbit). Thanks all ? Quote Link to post
The one 8,469
You can buy a box of chicken carcasses which will be a complete food for them and as the boxes vary from nine kilos to fourteen there no to big and bulky to store Quote Link to post
heritage 202
I find chicken and turkey necks to be another good alternative, there very cheap to buy and readily available . Quote Link to post
pie-eater 377
Heritage where do you buy chicken necks? Quote Link to post
