Out Last Nite With The Wolf And Ns50

Recommended Posts

Got to my perm about 8.45 last nite and thought I'd really have a good go at it (no work to day), started of by checking zero , it's a good job I did she was shooting right at 40yards, by 15mm don't know why , any way I sorted that out and of I went following the hedge line as I normally do, there was a1/2 moon and a sight breeze may be about 5mile per hour , I didn't think at this stage that the breeze would make much difference how wrong I was , it's was so slight I thought it would have no effect on stalking, I couldn't get to with in 60 yards of the rabbits befor they bolted off, then I realized that I was down wind of them , stupid thing to do really so I walked back the way I came and waited 1/2 hour , before going the opposite way round , this time I was getting with in range 40/55 yards, but by this time it was nearly dark but I could just see with the ret illiumenated, fist shot was at 50 yards , and a clean head shot did the trick and over it went , I didn't bother retrieving the rabbit as it was on the hedge line , and I knew I could find its Easley, so stalked along the hedge line about 30 yards , and another rabbit showed his face at 35 yards , this also took a jsb in the head , by now it was to dark to shoot with any accuracy, so I gathered up my prizes and off I went back to the car and set up the nite site , I had a cup of tea and waited yet another 1/2hour before going back out , now hears the story , I'm shit at judging distance at nite, and I've been using a spotter with a mag of 2.5 , the problem is that I've allways been thinking that I'm nowhere near in range , and tried to get closer , and a hundred times or more they bolted because I've tried to get to close not thinking about the 2.5 mag , so any way last nite when I'd spotted a rabbit I've held back what I consider to be a fair distance , I've then laid down and turned on the nite site , the mag I'm shooting at is 11.5 , feck me it would seem that I'm really close , I've focused in with the side wheel and took the shot , down it went . 30yards I would think been 1mill dot above zero

I carried on around the field still following the hedge line , and managed to get another 4 rabbits , all more or less in the same manor, and all between 30 and 45/50 yards , for me the trip was well worth the effort , as I've learned how to use my gear to better effect ,and that a good thing for me anyway!

O and by the way lads this is my first time at trying to do a write up so please don't be to hard on me , I'm so happy the way it all went I just had to tell some one ,i tried telling the wife this morning,, I might as well been talking to the frigin fridge

Good hunting

Dave
