Skull Hooker 185
You don't say what type of shooting you're trying to get or what sort of guns you got but I've often found that its out of the farmers hands when it comes to permissions. You got to b seriously lucky to land on your feet cold calling cos someone with a lot of cash has had the idea before you Do you do any beating? I always found that the farms are normally home to some sort of game shooting operation who pay the farer for the rights so its probably them that would have the say so Get in with them. particularly the keeper. Do the beating, work parties, whatever it takes They probably do their own pest control. so make yourself available around that. Be the keepers best mate. 3 Quote Link to post
charlie caller 3,654
No mate its not time to give up, if you have only visited 20 farms you have only just started keep at it, prepare for another 20 knock backs, sounds like you have the right approach, heres a tip dont mention you are using an air rifle at first, a lot of farmers consider them to be toys (they are not of course) and think if they let you on you will be peppering gates signs trees ect, just ask for vermin shooting permission, even better if you can spot some land with lots of bunnies, or pigeons etc, then go and ask if he wants a hand with them, stick at it, I know it can be demoralising, try visiting farmers markets and get chatting, also the pub after the farmers market, finally try offering something to the farmer, like a bit of work, or a skill you may have, keep at it and you WILL be sorted eventually. 1 Quote Link to post

Rez 4,957
Permissions are, from my own experience, about who you know rather than what, or how. I had no permissions here in Lincolnshire about 5 months ago, but called every 'high up' person I know and now I have 4. Do you know anyone or might know someone? Quote Link to post
DenBell 149
Don't limit yourself to farms mate, i found farm permisions the hardest to get. Out of all my permissions only one is on a farm and i got that because i did a farmer a favour and he thought he owed me, try golf courses and ask to speak to the greensman/groundsman, if they dont have the final say they have influence over those who do. Private properties are also a good bet, anywhere where rabbits are a problem and if you can convince them that your there to do them a favour and leavea good impression you will get some good ground. I wish I could be more help mate. If your ever in the north east drop me a pm:-) Quote Link to post
Cedric 132
Yes, don't restrict yourself to farm land. Many areas have industrial estates or business/office estates, often surrounded by grass and usually undisturbed after working hours. Find the manager and give it a shot. Be prepared and have your insurace with you. Quote Link to post
Blackbriar 8,569
Allotments attract rats and pigeons - speak to the Chairman, or whoever's in charge. Quote Link to post
