A standard float set up should do you on this water, corn, maggots and pellets seem to be the prefered baits being used. If your fishing on the bottom then the rods you have should suffice Dave. I've got boxes of floats etc if people need any bits of terminal tackle we should be able to kit them out between us.

A rod license will be needed as the ministry do turn up quite regular, you can go to your local post office and buy a day license.

I think you can get a rod license on line too mate ..

Hooks, floats, weights, line etc I'll have loads which can be used..

I'll bring spare bank sticks, rod rests etc

I've 2 carp rods and reels, possibly a spare pole, a whip, feeder rod, float rod,

Seat box, landing nets and keepnet... ( I'm a hoarder lol)...

First come first served but anyone welcome to borrow what I've got..

Between us everyone will get fishing,

Few of us are fishing the Wye the day before, if any lads want to join us they'd be welcome..

Baggsy the pole kev.....if possible

Never fished one before and would like to perhaps try it out. If it's an expensive one .

No problem Ry,

I'll check it out and make sure all the sections are ok, I need to sort it out for Finley anyway,

I'll make you up a couple of rigs too..

Johnny, have you any idea what the average depth is?

I'm not sure on the depth Kev but I'll find out for you.

It's deeper than John's head Kev. About 3ft 9"

 ...................That's not nice :D

Can someone also clarify (again) the rules on barbless hooks, bait, groundbait, braid etc? Ta.

Anglers must dip their nets in tubs provided. Anglers to use barbless hooks only. No tinned cat or dog food to be used, no Boilies above 10ml or peanuts to be used.

I think I'm going to have a go at the fishing competition, but I have no idea what gear to use. I had all my fishing stuff nicked out my car years ago and never really got back into it. I've bought bits and pieces since then, but I don't have what you'd call a decent setup.

Here's what I have:

3 x chunky carp rods, reels and 15lb line

A "specimen rod" (has this written on it) 11ft 1 3/4lb t.c.

A carp size landing net and handle

Assorted hooks and weights.

What would I seriously need to buy to make up an outfit suitable? Then I can scour ebay.

Cheers.

At the rate i'm going there'll be a set of Barbel gear for sale soon......................

You could use that.
