I wouldnt double a young dog up on rabbits it will just cause problems with retrieving ............TIME

Firstly, a pup of nearly 9 months is just that: a pup. Young dogs, especially males, don't get their full coordination and speed until they are at least a year old, especially those which are larger,

You have a young saluki chances are at the minute it will be all legs and ears, most develop at a slower rate than the lurcher x salukis so give it all the time it needs , many a good dog is ruined pu

Hold her back for a months I use to get a stick with but of line and rabbits skin on and get her grabbing that moving it around getting her to chase and grab it but shes young give her chance to mature abit

yeh hold it back start it august, get it on few daft rabbits that's not seen a lamp. all dogs are different some switch on right away some bit slower , all mine have been catching at 6 months old , so myself never had this prob. but it will catch when its ready not when your ready lol .

She bred for day running pal, let her find her feet in the day , her brother started picking up rabbits a couple of month back out n about, justb et em find their own runs and learn what works and what dont , you ruin her on lamp grounds far too hard n too much cover just dangerous and frustrating for her and she soon learn bad traits , just let her be a pup for now she soon find the chances she needs , get better dog that way more confident once she claiing a few givve her a handpicked bigger target once ground improves , dont rush her theres no race pal, she young inmmind and soul still

i had the same worry with my dogs first night lamping. caught 2 and let them both go when they squeaked. Never done it since though so i wouldnt wporry too much if i were you. You do get dogs that wont pick up at first though but a few real easy ones should sort that out if you know what i mean.

Good luck with it

Yep ferreting as been said for a while /then double her up with another dog until she clicks ?atb with her

I don't think doubling up 3/4 times would make much of a difference ?? We've all done it ?

i did think it would of either. rescued a whippet grey yea and a half ago. It was shit but on the rare occasion that it did catch it retrieved nicely even though it was hard mouthed. his overshooting was so bad that i thought id double him up with my little dog to see if it would help. caught 5 rabbits that night, the little one caught the first 4 and they had a tug of war with them all. the whippet grey finally catches the fifth rabbit and the same thing happens. That dog has never retrieved again. not even the dummy now
