villaman 9,983
Do we really need camo . Went to one of my permissions to night to try different pellets in my new HW100kt.177 , laying down shooting at targets I notice loads of rabbits with in 45 yards of me ,then 4 pigeons landed about 35 yards away ,there's me with a white tee shirt on , blue track suit bottoms and white training shoes. Had a walk around the field ,same again rabbits coming out and pigeons flying down , When I go out shooting I am all camo up with face Veil and gloves , just makes me wonder if we need to dress in full camo, if any at all !! 1 Quote Link to post
birdsallpl 6
Firstly you need to be quite and very still. Have you ever noticed when walking the dog how pigeons will stay in a tree only a few yards away or a rabbit will carry on munching but with a watchfull eye. Do the same walk with a gun under your arm and nothing comes within a hundred yards Quote Link to post
jack-percival 25
It helps the image of the sport if you dress accordingly just as much as it help you to blend in while hunting, you wouldn't go swimming in skiing gear would you lol, I always wear green pants boots or wellies and country style fleece over a green or brown t shirt and my flat cap while out with the lurchers and be polite to any passers by there always pleased to see what I'm doing then, if I turned up in trackies trainers and a baseball cap I would get branded a lout, just as when ever I go out with the precharged I always wear my realtree top and fleece bottoms and boots, not just to help with stalking or sitting in the hide but joe public tends to turn a blind eye when walking back across fiels with gun a quarry over shoulder..... moxy 617
No!! I do own and wear a cammo coat but it was for the jacket style why I got it. Not the pattern. A drab grey or olive would have been fine. I wear all-sorts of colours and it works for me. More often than not it's your movement that gives the game away. I suppose it has it's advantages if static shooting or hide shooting but only if your outline is broken and your movement concealed. I always stick my cammo gear on for lamping though Quote Link to post

Cliff Ray 185
You were camouflaged. As far as the rabbits and pigeons were concerned you were dressed as someone who wasn't hunting 1 Quote Link to post
PJWmids 35
probably not, but it makes me feel good when im in camo, especially when i walk out the door and the neigbours are giving me funny looks lol 2 Quote Link to post
The one 8,481
Probably not but if there good enough for the army to war in war there good enough for me to roll around a field while hunting or hard wearing enough for shooting in 1 Quote Link to post
