I've just been gifted about 70 yards of multimono net lets just say this net has seen better days a lot of holes I've got two choices fix the holes or re sheet it is there any one that can explain too me how too fix the holes ie re stitch the holes together or do you add in more meshes usually would just cut the net into smaller nets but could do with keeping it the same length any ideas

Yes just rough lace the holes that is all we used to do, and you will be surprised the amount of fish you catch in the slack netting around holes.

what kind of line would you use and what kind of knot may seem daft I know but would u just tie off on a mesh and go round every mesh round the hole and pull all the meshes into each other and tieing off the same mesh you tied off on

Pulling the meshes tight to close a hole is self defeating, as you are loosing the slack in the net. say you have a vertical rip in the net and a big gaping hole just run a piece or rigging twine through the edge meshes each side of the hole tie it in on the foot line lace it up through the meshes and tie it off on the head line.

The secret is do not pull the twine too tight the slacker the better in most cases say you have a seal hole where the seal has bit a fish out of the net, just run a lace around the edge of the hole without pulling the meshes too tight. start where you want and end where you want, use any knot as long as it holds. When you say the nets has been given you is it by any chance rotten as mono degrades in the sun, if you can snap the meshes easily then there is a good chance it is, then the better option is to strip it and add new sheets.

It's not rotten the lad just gave up took a big strop never pegged down properly and it just spun round so tight it was like one length of rope basically a big mess so too speak only 2 hours job in total too clean and wash but as I got it hung up and started cleaning started too see the holes and now realise why he could not be ased with it

The net may also be poorly rigged ! thus why it was spun up like a rope . This can happen when a poorly rigged net is fished in rough conditions . Have a look at the hangers on the lead line , if they are rigged with a tight drop this will cause the lead line to climb up the net ..

Regards.
