knocker 0
this may be a silly question but years ago i bred budgies and had to clip their "nails" regularly, budgies have a thin vein extending down the "nail" this had to be avoided as if cut it would bleed like a buggar, do ferrets have a similar thing or are they just normal ? if there is no vein, how short should i trim them ? i don't want to do them too short and interfere with their grip when working.........or should i leave them alone ? MikeTheDog 153
i have to trim my ferrets nails every yaer, it help to stop them gripping the rabbits arse in the burrows too. Mine use their teeth! Only need to do mine occasionally in the summer, lack of work means they don't wear down so easy. Long nails are great for running up the twill wire.. Quote Link to post
jultaylor1972 2
Yes, they have a similar vein which you can clearly see. I find the best time to clip their nails is when they are very tired and I just use normal nail clippers. Quote Link to post
