Dead Kits

Recommended Posts

Well I say dead kits the jill eat the lot, after a lot of thought I decided to breed a litter this year as my numbers were down and I needed 2 or 3 young from my own lines all was going well till the day after due day I noticed her in the run looking thin so I had a look in the box no kits just a few blood spots never had this happen before I know they will kill them some times but eat them !!!! any one else had this happen and just to say she is well feed a cared for and wants for nothing.

known it to happen when over keen owners have fecked about with the kits soon after birth,ie counting them or what ever, not saying you did but sure i was told its a possible reason for it

Yes Mate this can be true I've bred several litters over the years and normally just leave them to it but it all went tits up this time

Couldn't have been a phantom pregnancy I suppose? Im intending to breed a litter myself next season if my jill continues to work as well as she has so far. It will be her first litter so Im hoping she will be ok.

No Mate deffo had a gut full of young in there just one of those things I guess

It could have been anything mate with a first litter a loud noise ect could spook her and she thinks its a threat and eats them . Normally i would say breed from her again when she comes back into season in a week or two but they would be really late kits if you did

I've lost a couple of litters.. Shame when you want young but the second time I was greatful as was gonna have the Jill jabbed but too tight so just bred her probably would have got rid of most of them anyway like
