Sirius 1,391
Haven't been for 18 years or so. It all changed once the free gate closed, security was stepped up and BBC were involved it's just became a rich kids weekend out. One things for sure it's never been about who's playing on the main stage. Personally I would prefer to be out in the countryside these days rather than crammed in a festival and treated like cattle. I stopped going when he finally fecked us lot (hippy travellers)off around the end of the 90's,to comercial these days and far from what it used to be like, still had some fun times and the old security firm learnt not to mess one year but to be honest that was the final nail in our coffin of being really welcome. Some groovy stuff to do there but my god is it busy and never have or never will go to a festival in a nylon nightmare . True mate lol smethorpe we ended up at in 92 when they turned the convoy away! Then the wall came down 93 and that was kind of the end from then on. Had some good laughs in those days lol

dytkos 17,793
Feck that, I sat in my leather recliner with a can of beer watching Arcade Fire last night till 1.00am on my 42" wide screen with surround sound stereo then had a piss in my own toilet, cleaned my teeth and had a wash with hot running water and then took the 10 steps to crash out in my comfy king size bed that nobody had pissed on, or stolen and slept through till 08.30am and it didn't cost me about £200 quid - without petrol money, queues, or crazies. Atmosphere/Shatmosphere Cheers, D. Just to add, I got up this morning and had a nice shit on my own clean toilet whilst reading today's paper then had a lovely hot bath. Cheers, D.
jessdale 416
Makes me laugh all this "it was great untill '77 then shit from then" " brilliant untill '94 wank after that". In 10 years time someone on here will be saying " it was the best upto '14 then went downhill. Things move on. Remember an allegro car was once thought to be decent.
Frann 882
I thought the anti hunt thing was the band taking the pizz out of anti hunters James hunts himself. METAL UP YOUR AZZ !!!!! Love it me.
walshie 2,804
Don't know what the video was about, but the organisers were under pressure from the tree-huggers to ban metallica beacuse of Hetfield's pro-hunting stance.

Country Joe 1,411
Never made Glastonbury, But was at the first Isle of Wight 1/4 of a million at it, Bath, and Bickershaw, And the first stones in Hyde park. was a regular at The Middle Earth in Covent garden, saw Pink floyd with Syd barret, Beefheart with Ry Cooder on lead. The Byrds with Gram Parsons, and used to go to the Marquee Wardour St once a week, saw too many top bands to mention. And for a bit of name dropping I used to go to a record store called One Stop Records in South Moulton St just off Oxford St, it was quite small, sold mainly American Imports, one morning I was in checking out the Albums, There was only me, and the guy who owned it there, When the door opened and in walked Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton, Hendrix was either stoned or shy, the only thing he said to me was, hi Man. Happy trails, Peace and love. Edited June 29, 2014 by Country Joe

dare 1,103
Not been but doubt it'll be my thing. I like music and gigs but not a big fan of people lol. From what I saw quickly of Metallica it didnt look all that tbh. Blokes are getting on abit. Another thing I heard the line "put your hand up if you want the world to be a better place" how cheesey and cringy is that lol. What happen to the days of wanting to be off your face on drink n drugs and just playing your music. With your big bands like Metallica ect who's next up to replace them sort of hands?
